When I was asked if I would like to write a review for Stephen King‘s newest book release, Joyland, I was thrilled! I have read pretty much everything there is by King, and of course there were some I did not not enjoy so much, and some, well, constant readers of King, you know what I mean when I say, I was “completely pulled in.”

Not since 11/22/63 have I been so engrossed, and “pulled in” to a book as I was for Joyland.

It is the summer of 1963 and college student Devin Jones, through his 63-year-old self, narrates to us the details of the Summer when he was 21 and worked at Joyland Amusement Park. This is a crucial Summer for him, as he is trying to recover from the broken heart by his first love, Wendy. But, it is also his “coming of age” Summer, if you will.
