Welcome back! Part three of Ryan North‘s BMO virus arc in Adventure Time the comic series continues at a moderate pace. Let’s catch you up. In Adventure Time #11 Marceline, Finn and Jake are invited by BMO to play Super Guts Punch 3 inside his “MAIN BRAIN GAME FRAME.” They play and win only to discover that BMO has been hacked.
Adventure Time #12 is sidetracked by an unannounced visit from Lumpy Space Princess(a character I think is best in *very* small doses). Elsewhere, the team decides to track down the evil wizard Ewlbo who has hacked their friend, BMO. They formulate a plan to have another Awesome Wizard Battle and use it to suss out the culprit. (Check out animated series episode Wizard Battle to see what happened the first time that…well…wizards battled in Ooo.) Each character’s way to interview the wizards of Ooo is as unique and amusing as their poster drawings advertising the ruse battle. Their plan is a bust but BMO continues to spazz out from his operating system being hacked. He eventually leads the trio to a bunker where other hacked robots in Ooo have gathered.

Peanuts #6 is exactly what you’d expect it to be. Sweet, charming, and funny with loads of heart for kids of all ages.
Writers Paige Braddock, Vicki Scott, Art Roche, Alexis E. Fajardo & Riley Pell-Jenkins all turn in classic style Peanuts tales that are all fantastic. There’s short stories featuring almost all of the Peanuts gang, told using such dead-on character dialogue that you really wouldn’t know that there weren’t all written by Charles Schulz himself. And, for good measure, BOOM! throws in a classic Peanuts strip by the creator himself. Lot of chuckles and smiles in this issue.

Let me be straight with you. I adore Adventure Time on Cartoon Network. This means that I am automatically drawn to anything that carries the name. It also means that I’ll be twice as critical. The best parts of Adventure Time, after the stories, are the insane animation. I was a bit worried how this wonderful series would play out in comics form. There are other TV series, animated and live-action, that have let me down when they crossed mediums. After reading Adventure Time #11 I have to say that my fears were unfounded.
Issue #11 is written by Ryan North and is a new arc in the Kaboom production of the comic series. A perfect jumping on point for new readers, including this reviewer.

America’s favorite pasta-loving feline is back in an all new adventure! For decades we have watched Garfield gobble down entire trays of his favorite food, lasagna. But now, the tables have turned! Will his dinner attack and devour him instead? Will his cuisine reign supreme? All this and more is sure to be answered in Garfield #10. Grab your copy at finer comic and book stores nationwide this February.
Garfield is written by Mark Evanier. Illustrations and art are handled by Andy Hirsch, Dan Davis, and David DeGrand. Cover art is supplied on version A by Gary Barker and Dan Davis with an alternate cover by David DeGrand. Of course, if the choice is a difficult one, you can always buy both. I’m sure KaBOOM! Studios would have no problem with that!
Check out the official solicitation info and both covers after the jump.
