Death Stranding

To kick off Gamescom 2019 last night Geoff Keighley, the man behind the yearly Game Awards, hosted an opening night showcase.

Closing out this showcase was the great Hideo Kojima, who was on hand to share some new trailers for Death Stranding, his highly anticipated first non-Metal Gear game as director since 1994’s Policenauts—not counting the P.T. demo for the Silent Hill game we’ll never get to play, sadly. Kojima shared three new character trailers for the game, found below, one of which includes new peeks at gameplay footage.

Death Stranding

Gamers have been excited about the latest game from Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima, titled Death Stranding, for three years now. But trailers and gameplay peeks we’ve seen over those three years, while awesome and intriguing, have left us clueless as to what the hell is actually going on in the game.

Thankfully a new trailer has been released, and I can absolutely confirm that I still have not a freakin’ clue what’s going on. But damn, it is pretty awesome. In fact, if I get a chance to review the game it might just say “Damn, that was awesome” and leave it at that.

The trailer shows off more of the game, including some new gameplay action, and introduces some new cast including a second film director making an appearance. It also reveals something Kojima fans have been eagerly awaiting for a long time: a release date. You can find more info and check out the trailer below.

Death Stranding

It’s been two years now since we were first introduced to Death Stranding, the latest game from Hideo Kojima, at E3 2016, and tonight at E3 2018 we got our first peek at actual gameplay.

Another lengthy trailer for the game was shown, clocking in at over eight minutes and presenting plenty of new cinematic footage mixed with the aforementioned first looks at the game in action. No one still has any freakin’ clue what’s going on in this one, but it is progressing toward finally making its way to our confused eyes.

Thankfully we now have a brief description of Death Stranding to shed a little bit of light on what it’s about, and you can find that below along with the new trailer.

Wonder Woman: The Untold Story of American Superheroines

A new documentary entitled Wonder Woman: The Untold Story of American Superheroines, which focuses on the growth and development of superheroines through comics, war, feminism, and the Riot Grrl movement of more recent years, will be showcased at the South By Southwest (SXSW) film festival.

While the documentary spends time on Wonder Woman, from the trailer which you can watch here below, it appears that the documentary is truly about feminism and how gender roles are displayed in popular culture depending on society’s attitude towards women at the time. The documentary is being directed by Kristy Guevara-Flanagan (Going on 13) and features appearances by Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman), Lindsay Wagner (The Bionic Woman), Kathleen Hana from punk band Bikini Kill, Gloria Steinem, Trina Robbins, and more to discuss the impact of pop culture’s portrayal of women in media.

The Six Million Dollar Man, Complete Season One DVDThe Six Million Dollar Man
The Complete Season One
DVD
TimeLife

I recently had a chance to view the series The Six Million Dollar Man Season 1 on DVD. The classic show follows the adventures of former astronaut Colonel Steve Austin (Lee Majors), who was horribly injured after crashing an experimental airplane. Austin is rebuilt with bionic parts. He has a bionic arm, eye, and two bionic legs. He can run at incredible speeds, has superhuman strength in his bionic arm and can see over great distances.

Colonel Austin repays his debt to the people who built him by going on secret missions. I remember watching reruns of this show as a child and playing with my brother’s Steve Austin action figure. This DVD set brought back a lot of those memories. The Six Million Dollar Man was a fun, action-packed show. Some of the effects seem a little dated. There was a fight scene between Steve Austin and an alligator that looks hilarious now. However, the show still retains its charm.
