Logan's Run Image

A remake of the 1976 science fiction flick Logan’s Run has been one of those remakes that’s been attempted many times over the years but has never come together.

Now Warner Brothers is making an interesting and exciting move to get the remake rolling forward again. The studio has hired Ken Levine, who along with his Irrational Games created the classic video game BioShock, to write the screenplay for this latest attempt at remaking Logan’s Run.

Colors by Jesse Heagy
Letters by Warren Montgomery
Cover by Mike Dorman
Bluewater Comics
Release Date: October 17, 2012

Logan’s Run: Aftermath #6 is pretty much what a fun science fiction comic book should be. At least, on some levels. Unfortunately, some production issues get in the way of what should be an enjoyable comic.

Paul J. Salamoff takes some risks in this issue with storytelling. Unfortunately, none of them really pay off here. It just leaves the reader confused. REALLY REALLY confused. Don’t get me wrong, you can follow the story and you get a beginning, middle, and end, but you feel like you’re missing something the whole issue. I’m not sure if it’s because I haven’t read the previous couple of issues, but I figured “It’s Logan’s Run! It’ll be easy to follow!” I was pretty mistaken. The biggest problem in this issue is that Salamoff seems to almost want to make a silent issue and it’s just not working out in his favor. The lack of dialouge just leaves the reader confused and guessing as to what’s going on. Not very impressed with how the plot pays out here.

I have to admit, Logan’s Run: Aftermath #4 took me by surprise. It was actually a really good science fiction story, that, like all good Sci-Fi stories, is routed in humanity.

This issue is basically the story of Tara, the main character’s long-time rival. Instead of making her a villain just for the sake of having an antagonist, writer Paul J. Salamoff gives her a very credible “origin” story that shows her slow descent into conflict with Logan. And it’s a great story, one that builds slowly, not just a “he embarrassed me so I’m going to make him pay” kind of tale. Very entertaining read and I’m actually looking forward to the next issue.

Over the past decade or so, a remake of the beloved sci-fi film Logan’s Run has been on the books. Attached with names like Bryan Singer, James McTiegue, and even Carl Erik Rinsch, no one has really been able to get the film too far off the ground.

However, now with the team of Nicolas Winding Refn and Ryan Gosling aboard, this appears to be changing. THR is reporting that Andrew Baldwin has been tapped to write a new draft of the screenplay for the film, which is currently being set up over at WB.
