Last week on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Ray turned Nate Heywood (Brandon Routh, Nick Zano) into Steel with a tinkered Nazi super serum, but he cannot control it. Vixen (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) stows away on the ship, after trying to kill Mick (Dominic Purcell). She blames him for Rex Tyler’s death. Nate and Ray ended up in 17th Century Japan, and the rest of the team followed. So much fun! There were ninjas and a bit of romance. They helped defeat an evil shogun, to secure the future of Katana.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow Todd Israel

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow burst onto The CW in January, 2016 – a spinoff of a spinoff (ArrowThe FlashLoT). These time-traveling legends were tasked by Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) with capturing the evil Vandal Savage. The series, which also currently stars Victor Garber, Franz Drameh, Caity Lotz, Nick Zano, Dominic Purcell, and Brandon Routh, is just bunches of fun in time-traveling giftwrap.

What strikes one most about this series, are the settings in which our heroes spiral through. That magic is spun by the equally legendary cinematography duo of David Geddes and Mahlon Todd Williams. I got the unique opportunity to speak with Mahlon last week about filming in Vancouver, how he got started, and what it’s like filming this crazy, superhero, legendary, time-traveling show.

Check out the interview below.

Legends Of Tomorrow
Season 2 Episode 3: “Shogun”
Directed by Kevin Tancharoen
Written by Phil Klemmer & Grainne Godfree
Starring Arthur Darvill, Victor Garber, Brandon Routh, Caity Lotz, Franz Drameh, Dominic Purcell, Nick Zano
Created by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, Marc Guggenheim, Phil Klemmer, Sarah Schechter
The CW
Air Date: Thursday, October 27th, 2016, 8:00pm

Last week on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, they ran into The Justice Society of America in 1942. And by “ran into” I mean “got captured by.” Nate Haywood (Nick Zano) was giddy because he met his grandfather, Commander Steel (Matthew MacCaull), and tried to prove the familial connection through his dog-tags, and personal stories. We saw two of our favorite presently dead villains in the past, Eobard Thawne and Damian Darhk (Matt Letscher and Neal McDonough), in cahoots with each other and the Nazis, for nukes and a super serum. Sarah (Caity Lotz) tried to kill Darhk to prevent Laurel’s death, and Thawne ended up killing Rex Tyler (Patrick J. Adams), spurring Vixen (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) to blame Mick (Dominic Purcell).

Arrow
Season 5 Episode 4: “Penance”
Directed by Dermott Downs
Written by Brian Ford Sullivan & Oscar Balderrama
Created by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg
Starring Stephen Amell, David Ramsey, Willa Holland, Emily Bett Rickards, Echo Kellum, Paul Blackthorne, Josh Segarra, Audrey Marie Anderson, Rick Gonzalez, Joe Dinicol, Madison McLaughlin, Chad L. Coleman
The CW
Air Date: Wednesday, October 26th, 2016, 8:00pm

Last week’s Arrow was one of my favorites, as former WWE wrestler, Cody Rhodes, joined the hall of villains as Sampson – a “stardust” dealer, who battled against the Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) in the handsomest fight in town. Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) confessed her part in Haven Rock to Rory (Joe Dinicol). Diggle (David Ramsey) hallucinated Deadshot in the meanest audience trick, but wants to stay in jail for something he didn’t do, as penance for something he did – kill his brother. Lyla (Audrey Marie Anderson) was not having it, and went to get Oliver.

Legends Of Tomorrow
Season 2 Episode 2: “The Justice Society of America”

Starring Arthur Darvill, Victor Garber, Brandon Routh, Caity Lotz, Franz Drameh, Dominic Purcell, Nick Zano
Created by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, Marc Guggenheim, Phil Klemmer, Sarah Schechter
The CW
Air Date: Thursday, October 20th, 2016, 8:00pm

Last week’s 2nd season premiere of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow began as all things should… with Stephen Amell. Sigh… Nick Zano‘s Dr. Nate Haywood, historian, completed the handsome party, when he went to Oliver Queen for help in finding the legends. Apparently, the Waverider was destroyed by a nuclear bomb. They find the ship, but only Mick (Dominic Purcell) aboard in stasis. Mick told them the story of the last mission. Damian Darhk did it. So happy that Neal McDonough is back! Darhk was working with the Nazis and set it off. Rip ended up scattering the crew and leaving Mick in suspension.
