The Heroes and Villains Fan Fest emanated from the New Jersey Convention and Expo Center in Edison, NJ on September 8th and 9th, where the biggest stars from comics television and film were there and fans were able to pose for photos with them, get autographs, and take part in Q&A panel discussions. The fest heavily featured stars from DC’s TV Universe or “Arrow-verse†on The CW. Stars from Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and more were there as well as stars from Fox’s Gotham.
The opening panel of the weekend was the Firestorm panel featuring the trio of actors who’ve portrayed the character: Victor Garber, Robbie Amell, and Franz Drameh. The stars talked about their superhero favorites, and took an array of questions from the eager crowd. And moderating the panel was my wife Athena (Olympus Athens) and myself Dan (Dr. Zaius) of Geeks Of Doom.
Check out the video of our moderating debut here below.

Last week’s DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, was one of the best episodes to date. The Legion of Doom (and Mick Rory – Dominic Purcell), finally got their hands on the Spear of Destiny, and fashioned a new reality to their liking. Eobard Thawne (Matt Lescher) became the head of S.T.A.R. Labs, as well as the smartest and richest man in the world. He also had Stein and Jax (Victor Garber, Franz Drameh) as his work slaves, and Ray (Brandon Routh) as the janitor. Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) reunited with his entire (alive) happy family. Damian Darhk (Neal McDonough) was the mayor of Star City, and had his goons, Amaya and Sara (Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Caity Lotz) take out all the superheroes, including vigilante Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards), and has an impressive mask trophy case. Snart (Wentworth Miller) and Rory robbed banks with no challenge. Everyone except Thawne was dissatisfied. When geeky Nate (Nick Zano) went to Thawne for help because he somehow knew that time was messed up, he ordered the boys to kill him. Mick couldn’t go through with it, and they hooked up with Ray, who invented a gun to restore their former memories. They fixed most of them (except Stein), and after a bunch of fights, Thawne prevailed and destroyed the spear, locking them in that reality forever.

DC’s Arm-Fall-Off-Boy To Join The Arrowverse

“My power will astound you! Observe as I detach my limb, and transform it into a deadly weapon!â€
— Arm-Fall-Off-Boy
That name has to be a joke right. Right? But no, it’s far too real. Arm-Fall-Off-Boy was created by Gerard Jones and Curt Swan and had his first appearance in DC Comics in Secret Origins Volume 2, #46 in November 1989. The futuristic hero has the unique ability to detach his limbs and beat his enemies down with them. Since Marvel is raking in the dough with obscure heroes from their catalog like the Guardians of the Galaxy, and Netflix’s Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, DC figures if you can’t beat them, join them, and is literally scraping the barrel for forgotten characters.

Last week on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, the Legends headed for the Apollo 13 mission because Nate’s (Nick Zano) grandfather, Commander Steel, hid a piece of the spear. Ray snuck into the mission and discovered that Thawne took out the 2 astronauts to get to the moon (where the piece was hidden). Thawne and Ray (Matt Letscher, Brandon Routh) had to work together to get back to Earth alive. Commander Steel sacrificed himself for the mission. Stein and Mick (Victor Garber, Dominic Purcell) sang to distract NASA.

Last week on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, evil Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) said the overridecode to Gideon and plunges the timeship into a whirlwind that landed in Jurassic World. Luckily, Ray (Brandon Routh) still had all his knowledge and shelter from when he was stuck there. He advised Nate (Nick Zano) not to get with Amaya (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) because of her destiny. Sara and Jax (Caity Lotz, Franz Drameh) entered Rip’s brain to get the secret spear info. The CW Crossover: Heroes vs Aliens – The Dominators (Videos)

In what looks to be part Independence Day, part War of the Worlds, part V, part Superman, part everything you’ve always wanted in a superhero/alien movie, The CW is going for it. Touched upon in the last couple of minutes of Supergirl last night, when Barry Allen and Cisco Ramon (Grant Gustin, Carlos Valdes) popped up in Kara’s (Melissa Benoist) living room through a wormhole asking for help, tonight is when it seems the whole gang will get together. The CW has released “The Dominators” trailer and a behind the scenes look at how everything is going down.
Check out both videos below.

Last week on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Ray turned Nate Heywood (Brandon Routh, Nick Zano) into Steel with a tinkered Nazi super serum, but he cannot control it. Vixen (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) stows away on the ship, after trying to kill Mick (Dominic Purcell). She blames him for Rex Tyler’s death. Nate and Ray ended up in 17th Century Japan, and the rest of the team followed. So much fun! There were ninjas and a bit of romance. They helped defeat an evil shogun, to secure the future of Katana.

Interview: ‘Legends Of Tomorrow’ Cinematographer Mahlon Todd Williams

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow burst onto The CW in January, 2016 – a spinoff of a spinoff (Arrow – The Flash – LoT). These time-traveling legends were tasked by Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) with capturing the evil Vandal Savage. The series, which also currently stars Victor Garber, Franz Drameh, Caity Lotz, Nick Zano, Dominic Purcell, and Brandon Routh, is just bunches of fun in time-traveling giftwrap.
What strikes one most about this series, are the settings in which our heroes spiral through. That magic is spun by the equally legendary cinematography duo of David Geddes and Mahlon Todd Williams. I got the unique opportunity to speak with Mahlon last week about filming in Vancouver, how he got started, and what it’s like filming this crazy, superhero, legendary, time-traveling show.
Check out the interview below.

Last week on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, they ran into The Justice Society of America in 1942. And by “ran into” I mean “got captured by.” Nate Haywood (Nick Zano) was giddy because he met his grandfather, Commander Steel (Matthew MacCaull), and tried to prove the familial connection through his dog-tags, and personal stories. We saw two of our favorite presently dead villains in the past, Eobard Thawne and Damian Darhk (Matt Letscher and Neal McDonough), in cahoots with each other and the Nazis, for nukes and a super serum. Sarah (Caity Lotz) tried to kill Darhk to prevent Laurel’s death, and Thawne ended up killing Rex Tyler (Patrick J. Adams), spurring Vixen (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) to blame Mick (Dominic Purcell).

This week, Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) and the gang are trying to stop Vandal Savage but more importantly are running from the “Huntersâ€, a group of “boogeymen†sent by the Time Masters. They hide out in 1871 in the wild west town of Salvation, which has Ray (Brandon Routh) super duper excited. I love the Morricone-esque music as they ramble on into town.
Spoilers below.
