‘The First Purge’ Teaser & Poster Send A Polarizing Message On Night Of The State Of The Union

The Purge: Election Year banner

Underneath the gruesomeness of The Purge lies an underlining message about class, race, and status. The rich could afford the protections needed to survive an entire night’s worth of committing crimes without having to worry about the law, while the lower class has to fend for themselves. It was definitely one of the more unconventional horrors. With Blumhouse’s reputation for low-budget films, the success of it helped turn that Purge into a full-blown trilogy.

However, we never really saw how the Purge came to be. We just knew that it was created in order to lower crime. Now the series will explore the original purge in a film appropriately titled The First Purge. And based on the newly released teaser video and poster, you know it’s going to make waves. Check it out below.

Spider-Man: Homecoming

Spider-Man: Homecoming
Written by Jonathan Goldstein & John Francis Daley & Jon Watts & Christopher Ford & Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers
Directed by Jon Watts
Starring Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Jon Favreau, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Tyne Daly, Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr.
Sony Pictures
Release date: July 7, 2017

The general consensus amongst critics and die-hard comic book movie fans alike is that no matter how great the MCU films get, the pinnacle of the genre was achieved back in the early 2000s with Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man (2002) and Spider-Man 2 (2004). Interestingly enough, two of the dirt worst superhero movies since then also featured the webslinger: Raimi’s awful Spider-Man 3 in 2007, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 2014, which killed the rebooted franchise before it could even make the planned Sinister Six film it spent 2 hours setting up. Marvel Studios and Sony were able to come to an agreement since that debacle, which led to the best Spidey on screen in 12 years with Tom Holland’s appearance in Captain America: Civil War last year. A year later, Sony & Marvel again united to bring us Spider-Man: Homecoming, and maybe because I’m writing this an hour after seeing it, without time to properly marinate”¦ but Homecoming is the best standalone Spider-Man movie since”¦ ever.

Spider-Man: Homecoming Starbucks Pranks

We’re just a little over a week from the launch of the first movie in Sony Pictures’ latest reboot of the Spider-Man franchise, Spider-Man: Homecoming, this time with a little help from Marvel.

To help promote the movie a fun little prank was set up, as is quite the popular viral marketing technique these days. For this one, customers at a Starbucks in New York City are first confused when the barista calls out Spider-Man’s name for an order, and then surprised when Spidey himself drops down from the ceiling to pick it up. There’s even a cameo from a familiar face.

Check out the video below.

Spider-Man: Homecoming Trailer #3

In the two film franchises that Spider-Man has been in, never has his suit been as technologically advanced as the one in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though we didn’t see much of those advancements in Captain America: Civil War, it was a definite upgrade when compared to the homemade Spidey suit and goggles.

But Spider-Man: Homecoming will put all of the tech that Iron Man put into the suit on full display. And based on the new trailer, not only are there about 500 different ways to websling but there are also other tools that are at the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’s disposal. Check out the latest trailer for the film below.
