| Sneak Peek At Upcoming Book ‘The Marvel Art of Mike Deodato’Mike Deodato began his career as a mainstream funny book artist at Marvel Comics working on The Avengers and Thor. Some of his most recent work for the House of Ideas includes Dark Avengers, Amazing Spider-Man, and Thuderbolts. Marvel Comics has assembled some of his “greatest hits” if you will into one massive hardcover called The Marvel Art of Mike Deodato. “Since I was a kid, I’d loved art books collecting my favorite artists. More recently, I’ve been thrilled to see works of comic book artists taken more seriously,” said Deodato. “To be featured among talents such as Joe Quesada and Marko Djurdjevic in a book like this makes me awfully happy. My dad, who bought me all my early Frazetta hardcovers, was beaming with pride when I told him Marvel was doing one about me. I feel honored.”

It’s a good time to be an Avengers fan! This May we can look forward to a double dose of new Avenger books with some great creative teams behind them. Marvel recently showed off two similar ad campaigns for two not so similar books. Last week came the announcement that Brian Michael Bendis and John Romita Jr. are teaming up to relaunch the classic Avengers book with issue #1 and this week word surfaced about the second Avengers series called Secret Avengers. The superstar creative team of Ed Brubaker and Mike Deodato will be bringing that story to life. So far the classic Avengers series has five confirmed members on its roster — Hawkeye, Captain America, Spider-Woman, Thor, and Iron Man. (Bendis confirmed on Twitter that this is not the complete roster.) Both titles launch in May. It looks like Black Panther and War Machine might be two of the Secret Avengers but I have no idea about the others. Who do you think the Secret Avengers in the teasers are? Check out the covers here below.

On Tuesday I received in my inbox an email asking me, “What is this mysterious image?” Marvel didn’t want to tell me much, only that I would have to wait for in-depth interviews “on all the major announcements being made” at Marvel’s “jaw-dropping presentation at the Diamond Retailer Summit.” Well, answers to the mysterious image, and more, have definitely got me excited. First off, the image to the right is a teaser for the upcoming Marvel Noir. “The Marvel Universe meets Film Noir next year in three limited-series re-imagining Marvel’s most iconic characters in the 30′.” The three titles will be X-Men Noir, Spider-Man Noir, and Daredevil Noir. “The Noir line came together in one of our editorial meetings,” explains Executive Editor Axel Alonso, who will also be helming Daredevil Noir. “We had a couple of promising pitches that re-imagined Marvel characters against a Noir backdrop so we figured why stop there? If you imagine an icon like Spider-Man or the X-Men or Daredevil as a product of the 30’s, the story possibilities are endless.”
