YA novels sure do love their futuristic dystopia settings. And while many have been turned into a film adaptation, few have ever made it to the very end. But there are some of those that could actually work, and Universal is putting its money on Mortal Engines being the next mega-hit, based on a YA novel, to work. Produced by Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies), the film is based on the 2001 novels written by Philip Reeve.

And now we have our first look at it, in a new teaser trailer which has a few nods to some more mature dystopian films. Check it out here below.

Mythbusters star Adam Savage and his YouTube channel Tested are back with the third video of their visit to Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit director Peter Jackson‘s unbelievable movie prop collection, which could make any movie fan weep with envy. I know I have. Nine times.

The first part of the series focused on a Hal 9000 faceplate from Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. The second part moved on to something near and dear to the King Kong (2005) director’s heart, an armature from the original 1933 King Kong. In the third video found below, we get to see some interesting pieces that aren’t actually movie props but are tied to movies: the makeup kits of John Chambers, who worked on numerous classic titles but was also the man who helped the CIA set up the fake movie production seen in Ben Affleck’s Best Picture winner Argo. John Goodman played Chambers in the movie.

A couple of weeks back we were treated to a visit to Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit director Peter Jackson‘s incredible museum-like movie prop collection when Mythbusters star Adam Savage visited for his YouTube channel Tested.

While the collection has thousands of treasures, the first video mainly focused on only one of Jackson’s props, the faceplate for Hal 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey. An awesome prop, of course, but it made me sad we didn’t get to see much more of the collection. I hoped it would be the first of a series of videos, and, well, here we are! A second video of Savage’s visit to Jackson’s collection has been released, this time looking at perhaps the most prized possession of the King Kong (2005) director: an original 1933 King Kong armature.

Any movie fan would love to put together an impressive collection of authentic movie props. Unfortunately, most can’t afford such a hobby. The Lord of the Rings, King Kong, and The Hobbit director Peter Jackson is not one of those people.

Jackson has a massive movie prop collection. So many, in fact, that the area he keeps them in looks more like a museum than a personal collection. Mythbusters star Adam Savage was able to hang out with Jackson and take a tour of this unbelievable collection for the YouTube channel Tested. Unfortunately, while we do get lots of peeks at the amazing props Jackson owns, most of the video focuses on only one. I’m hoping this is simply the first in a series of videos, because I sure would like to see a lot more of this collection. But for now, we have the video you can see below.

As far as filmmaking collaborations go, it doesn’t get any better than Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg. That came true in 2011 when The Adventures of Tintin was released. While the film adaptation of the Herge comic of the same name may have been a hit with some of us, it didn’t perform in the U.S. as expected. However, internationally, it was a box office hit. A sequel would have Spielberg switching places with Jackson as director and producer.

And yet, this report isn’t really about the two coming together for The Adventures of Tintin 2. Nope. During an interview, Spielberg revealed that he was working with Jackson again on a new secret project before heading off to work on a Tintin sequel. More on the story below.
