It’s been assumed for a while now that Naughty Dog’s hit game The Last of Us would eventually get a release on PlayStation 4. It wouldn’t make much sense to release a game that incredible right before people started upgrading from a PS3 to a PS4 and leave it as an exclusive to the older console, even with PlayStation Now on the way.

Today Sony has officially announced The Last of Us Remastered for the PS4, which will run in 1080p and include higher resolution character models, improved shadows and lighting, upgraded textures, and more.

Sony's Project Morpheus

The news that Facebook has acquired Oculus VR, makers of the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset, for $2 billion has many who were excited by the product in a frenzy of disappointment and doubt. But, whether you think the acquisition was a bad move or you’re still optimistic about the Oculus, there are other VR products on the way to keep an eye on. Sony, for example, has one currently being developed for their PlayStation 4 called Project Morpheus, and they’re currently showing the technology off at the 2014 Game Developers Conference.

The company, quite smartly, has released a pair of new videos showing off Project Morpheus. The first is a hands-on preview video, and the second is their entire hour-long GDC ’14 presentation, which talks in depth about their vision for virtual reality moving forward and what you can expect from Morpheus. Check out both videos below.

The Order: 1886

One of the cool games we saw revealed at E3 2013 last summer was The Order: 1886, a Neo-Victorian game that mixes an old school look with some funky futuristic weapons and technology as an order of knights battles halfbreed beings that are a combination of man and monster.

That first look at the game was only a cinematic, but one made using the game’s engine. Still, it is only when we get to see actual gameplay action that we can start getting an idea of what a game might look like. Today comes that first peek at some gameplay.

You can check out the gameplay demo for The Order: 1886 below, along with a new cinematic trailer.

The Last of Us

If you’ve played developer Naughty Dog’s Game of the Year favorite, The Last of Us, you know how ridiculously good it is. You’re also likely excited for the new story DLC being released for the game, titled “Left Behind,” which will be released on Valentine’s Day (why waste money on flowers and chocolate when you can be playing this?). But would fans be interested in playing The Last of Us 2? That’s exactly what Naughty Dog is currently pondering—the other option being a brand new title.

Whether or not to make a Last of Us sequel is a tricky conundrum to work out. Some would be quite eager to jump into another story involving Joel and Ellie and what’s next for them, no matter what. Others, myself included, feel that—while another game in that world does sound awesome—the original is perfect, and trying to add to it could be damaging to the overall story.

Continue reading to see what Naughty Dog says about what’s next for them, as well as where they stand on The Last of Us being released on PlayStation 4.
