Prometheus

The tantalizing glimpses at Ridley Scott‘s upcoming 3D science-fiction spectacular Prometheus have been slowly leaking out over the past few months. Now we’ve got an amazing new image from the film to feast our eyes upon, courtesy of the Weyland Industries website.

You can check out the new image here below.

Apparently this is supposed to be a star map control room on one of the spaceships featured in Prometheus, most likely from an alien vessel. An unidentified human (or otherwise) character stands in the center of this beautiful galactic tableau. Could this be the space jockey’s ship we’re seeing? Maybe it’s not even in a spaceship. I’m certainly intrigued. Discuss.

Prometheus

Yesterday the mystery surrounding the nature of the connection between Ridley Scott‘s 1979 sci-fi horror classic Alien and his upcoming prequel-cum-return to the genre that made him a world-renowned filmmaker, Prometheus, became a great deal clearer with the director revealed that actor Guy Pearce would be playing a character named Peter Weyland, the owner of the titular spaceship and the instigator of the voyage into the unknown that the movie revolves around.

Today the Prometheus viral marketing campaign has launched with co-writer Damon Lindelof Tweeting a link to a video featuring Pearce as Weyland giving a TED Talk in 2023 that foreshadows the events of the movie.

The nature of the connection between Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus and the original Alien film series has been the most hotly debated topic regarding the forthcoming sci-fi prequel. The domestic and international teaser trailers have featured designs and concepts seemingly derived from H.R. Giger‘s groundbreaking creations from Scott’s 1979 face-screwing, chest-bursting space shocker, including glimpses of the derelict spacecraft that set the plot of Alien in motion. But Scott and company have been pretty tight-lipped so far about whether or not Prometheus shares more than just a little DNA with its xenomorphic cinematic brethren.

In an interview with the Hungarian news website Mozinezo, Scott spoke out in regards to the character being played by Guy Pearce (L.A. Confidential, The Proposition) and gave us a little insight into just how much Prometheus figures into the origins of the Alien series.

Wall-Etheus

You may not know the name Brad Hansen, but you should. Hansen is the creator of the Lion King/Dark Knight Rises mash-up trailer The Lion King Rises that premiered last week (watch it here). The video currently has over one million hits and rising every day.

By popular demand Hansen has taken the other most notable movie trailer to premiere in recent weeks, Ridley Scott’s upcoming Alien spiritual prequel Prometheus, and merged it with a sweet-natured Pixar flick from several years ago. The result is WALL-ETHEUS!

You can watch it here below.
