The image doesn’t show a whole lot, but you will see an that dark Alien outer space and an astronaut navigating their way through a gravity–less area. | SDCC 2011: Ridley Scott’s ‘Prometheus’ Panel Covers 3D, ‘Alien’ Ties, PG–13 Rating

The highly anticipated panel for Ridley Scott‘s sorta–kind but not really Alien prequel, Prometheus, was held at San Diego Comic–Con 2011 on Thursday, and things that will excite you as well as things that may make you a little uneasy were discussed. The panel opened with moderator (and screenwriter) Damon Lindelof, who is of course one of the main men behind one of the greatest TV shows of all time, LOST. Lindelof gets things rolling with a story of how he came to be the writer Ridley chose to pen what would be the final draft used for the movie, before jumping right into a footage presentation. | ‘The King’s Speech’ Star Guy Pearce Cast In Ridley Scott’s ‘Prometheus’
It’s being reported that yet another incredibly talented actor, Guy Pearce, has been cast in director Ridley Scott‘s upcoming movie, Prometheus, which is the currently filming prequel to his 1979 horror classic, Alien. It’s unclear what role Pearce will be playing, but he joins a fantastic existing cast that includes Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds, X-Men: First Class), Noomi Rapace (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo), Charlize Theron (Monster, The Road), Idris Elba (The Losers, Thor), Sean Harris (24 Hour Party People, The Borgias), Kate Dickie (The Pillars of the Earth), Rafe Spall (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz), and Logan Marshall-Green (Devil, Across the Universe).

| Charlize Theron Latest To Join Ridley Scott’s ‘Prometheus’; Michael Fassbender Talks ‘Alien’ Connection
The biggest name so far to be cast in Ridley Scott‘s maybe-possibly Alien prequel, Prometheus, has been officially announced. Reports are that Charlize Theron, who’s name has been one of many wanted for a role in the movie, has joined the cast in what’s assumed will be the female lead. Theron won an Oscar for her role in Monster, and is known for her work on films like The Devil’s Advocate, The Cider House Rules, The Italian Job, North Country, Æon Flux, and Hancock. Theron joins a small-yet-growing cast that includes Michael Fassbender, who has starred in movies like 300, Inglourious Basterds, Centurion, and the upcoming X-Men: First Class (watch the trailer here), as well as Noomi Rapace, who appeared in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and its Millennium Trilogy.

| Is Ridley Scott’s ‘Prometheus’ Still An ‘Alien’ Prequel After All?
It’s gotten to a point where we may just not have a clue what’s going on with director Ridley Scott‘s return to science fiction, Prometheus, until we see it with our own eyes…much like was the case with Scott’s take on Robin Hood, which saw many strange rumors and rumblings lead us all over the place during production. Because no one likes to be screwed around with when it comes to movie news — we all just want to know accurate details, not random rumors — we’ll try and ease it back on said rumors and keep it to only things that seem solid in regards to Prometheus from here on out. That said, those of you who have been closely following this movie’s progress should be interested in hearing this last bit of he said, she said.
