Relativity’s remake of The Crow has just been one slow-going process. Between the actors and directors leaving, and the studio forced to declare bankruptcy, it is beginning to look like the remake is never going to happen, at least not under the Relativity banner. And now it is about to get worse.

Because of the studio’s financial woes, director Corin Hardy is reportedly just steps away from walking out on the project, which has forced producer Edward Pressman to make the necessary moves to protect the film from being considered as an asset for the studio to sell. More on the story below.

Last week, Relativity was forced to file Chapter 11 bankruptcy after being hit with lawsuits and missing numerous payments. The studio was forced to lay off 75 of its 350 employees on staff, and now their troubles are leaking over to their films. Though they will release Masterminds and Kidnap, the future of their other films in pre-production is unknown, and will most likely be put on hold or sold to other studios and producers, until Relativity can figure a way out of their mess. One of the biggest films that was in pre-production was experiencing a bit of trouble itself. According to new reports, pre-production on The Crow reboot is now stalled.

The first trailer for director Jared Hess‘s (Napoleon Dynamite, Nacho Libre) heist comedy Masterminds has been released.

Zach Galifianakis stars as an armored truck driver stuck in a monotonous life, who is lured into stealing $17 million for two thieves (Owen Wilson and Ken Marino) who plan to make him a scapegoat. There will also be double crosses, a hit man (Jason Sudeikis), and comedy all around. The film is actually based on a true story of the 1997 Loomis Fargo heist where armored car driver and vault supervisor David Scott Ghantt stole $17.3 million and eight people were arrested and convicted of the crime. Upcoming films based on the tale of Snow White are all moving their pieces into place in an attempt to keep up with their competitors. We’ve heard about Universal Pictures’ Snow White and the Huntsman lining up stars such as Charlize Theron, Viggo Mortensen, and Kristen Stewart for potential roles. Then came word that Disney, who’s coming back with another take on the story they used for the 1937 animated classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs titled Snow and the Seven, had hired the writer of Toy Story 3 to pen their script.

Being sure to keep pace with the others, Relativity Media’s adaptation of the tale, titled The Brothers Grimm: Snow White, has acquired the services of a big name talent. In a press release sent out by the studio, they’ve announced that Julia Roberts has joined their film, and she will be playing their Evil Queen character.
