SDCC 2012: ‘Deadpool’ Video Game Announced; First Trailer Unleashed

It’s no secret that fans have been clamoring for a good R-rated Deadpool movie for a while now, and while Marvel Studios has still not officially announced such a movie, Deadpool himself was on hand at Comic-Con to announce something else: a brand new video game based on the hit Marvel superhero.
The game, which will of course be titled Deadpool, comes from Activision and is being developed by High Moon Studios. It appears to be a 3rd-person game that will focus primarily on the Merc with the Mouth’s sense of humor and affinity for violence in hopes of “scratching that itch” fans might have.
You can check out the very entertaining reveal trailer for Deadpool below now.

No promises on how long this will be available for your viewing pleasure, but if you hurry, you too can now see the brief teaser trailer for The Avengers that was shown at San Diego Comic-Con recently.
The movie is still a long way from beginning filming, but this was created as a special little tease to get the growing excitement moving full-steam ahead. In it you’ll hear some voice over work from Nick Fury before the title logo shines through.

SDCC 2010: Marvel Comics ‘X-Men’ Panel
|
By Guy_Jen
| July 31st, 2010 at 1:13 pm
|

X-Men fans united on last weekend for the Marvel Comics X-Men panel at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con, where the comics company discussed what will happen in the X-Men titles in the next few months.
Of course being that Second Coming just finished, the consequences of the event were discussed as well as the upcoming event Curse of the Mutants and a little bit of what is involved in this event.
The biggest thing that Marvel wanted to talk about was the reboot of all the Wolverine family books. Wolverine is starting over at issue #1 and the Wolverine Weapon X writer Jason Aaron will be writing it. Oh I know what you’re going to say, what is happening to Daken? Well, don’t worry, Dark Wolverine will be a separate series starting over at #1 as well. X-23 will also start a new ongoing series as well which has only been miniseries thus far and Marjorie Liu will be working on it as well.

SDCC 2010: Spider-Man Hits the Big Time in November
|
 |

There are changes coming to the world of the Amazing Spider-Man in November when the series cuts back from its current schedule of three issues a month and goes to just two issues a month. Each issue will feature 30 issues of the main story and then will have a 9-page back-up story. Another change coming to the series will see the end of the rotating cast of writers, as Dan Slott becomes the sole writer for the series, although others will be writing some of the back-up stories. One further change will see a rotating team of artists handling each story arc. The three rotating artists on the book will be Stafano Caselli (recently on Secret Warriors), Humberto Ramos, and Marcos Martin. Ramos will be drawing the first arc, starting with issue #648. Caselli will draw the next arc, with Martin drawing the third. The price for each issue will be $3.99.
The Brand New Day experiment has worked well for Marvel, making Spider-Man not only one of its best-selling titles, where it should be, but also making it one of its most consistently excellent titles. It will be interesting to see how the book differs with just one writer as opposed to the large group of writers. Marvel has decided to give the book a new subtitle, much as they did with the Brand New Day title. Now they’re subtitling it “Big Time.â€

SDCC 2010: DC Comic Panels Roundup
|
By Guy_Jen
| July 29th, 2010 at 6:29 pm
|

Unfortunately, there wasn’t a lot of big reveals from either DC or Marvel about their upcoming material that had not already been announced in some form or fashion. Therefore, I am just going to review what DC talked about throughout most of their panels at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con.
Two of my most anticipated books that were announced at the Con were Batman Incorporated by Grant Morrison and Flash Speedforce by Geoff Johns. I am super pumped by the descriptions of both of these books and I am already ready to add these books to my pull list. I definitely suggest that everyone keeps their eyes out for these. Also of note but not newly announced is the Batman Earth One by Geoff Johns about a Batman who fails at everything and his gadgets don’t work.

SDCC 2010: Watch Now: Wil Wheaton and Cast of ‘The Big Bang Theory’
|
 |

What’s better than having the entire cast of geeky hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory sit in on a panel discussion at San Diego Comic-Con 2010? How about having Sheldon Cooper’s nemesis Wil Wheaton moderating said panel? That’s exactly what fans got this year in the convention center’s second largest meeting space.
After an unannounced performance of the theme song led by Barenaked Ladies and a clip reel of footage from the show [READ: SDCC 2010: Barenaked Ladies Perform ‘Big Bang Theory’ Theme At Cast Panel], the cast — Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Kunal Nayyar, and Simon Helberg — was asked a variety of questions, including what Nayyar’s future as a Bollywood superstar was, what it was like working with Christine Baranski, and what super-hero identity they’d like to take on if given the chance. (Hint: Helberg definitely wouldn’t be Moist).
I fully expect their responses to be illustrated into a comic book and spread among the internets any day now. Check out video of the entire panel below…

SDCC 2010: ‘Paul’ Panel With Simon Pegg, Nick Frost & Seth Rogen (With Video)
|
 |
The cast of Paul, the upcoming sci-fi comedy by Superbad director Greg Mottola and written by the film’s stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, took to the stage at 2010 San Diego Comic-Con to debut a special clip reel made specifically for the fans in attendance. This can be somewhat verified by the fact that it wasn’t censored for the general viewing audience due to the few instances of well-timed cursing.
The video opened with a loud pop from the crowd as they showed fanboys Clive Gollings (Frost) and Graeme Willy (Pegg) in the San Diego Convention Center for Comic-Con. The two are on a journey to Roswell, New Mexico, where they encounter a classic-style gray alien named Paul, voiced by Seth Rogen. The trio are being chased by Special Agent Lorenzo Zoil (Jason Bateman) and Agent Haggard (Bill Hader) and accidentally kidnap Ruth Buggs, played by Kristen Wiig.
With the exception of Wiig, the aforementioned actors sat on the panel along with Sigourney Weaver, Jeffrey Tambor, and Joe Lo Truglio — who actually stood in during the portions of the film that contained the CGI Paul.

SDCC 2010: Watch Now: ‘True Blood’ Cast Panel With Alan Ball And Charlaine Harris
|
 |

At least one woman in every row of the crowded (4,500 capacity) ballroom was wearing a Merlotte’s Bar & Grill t-shirt at the True Blood panel at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con, which featured nearly the entire cast of the HBO hit vampire drama.
Show creator Alan Ball kicked off the panel with a special Comic-Con preview reel before having the cast — including Joe Manganiello (Alcide), Kristin Bauer (Pam), Deborah Ann Woll (Jessica), Denis O’Hare (Russell), Sam Trammell (Sam Merlotte), Nelsan Ellis (Lafayette), Rutina Wesley (Tara), Stephen Moyer (Bill), and Anna Paquin (Sookie) — come on stage to talk shop about the huge response this season.
A lot of ground covered but some of the highlights include: Alan Ball has never seen/read Twilight; novelist Charlaine Harris said she plans to do 13 Sookie Stackhouse books that may or may not mirror the story that happens in the television show; and Snoop Dogg really is a fan of True Blood and scheduling has prevented him from making a guest appearance in the past. [READ: Snoop Dogg Really Likes HBO’s ‘True Blood’]
There’s also an explicit description of how Moyer filmed the sex scene in which he twists his former vampire lover’s head around while… well you get the point.
Check out the video coverage below for more details on what to expect from the future of True Blood…

Listen Now: Ryan Reynolds Recites Green Lantern Oath
During the Warner Bros Green Lantern panel at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, the film’s star Ryan Reynolds finally publicly recited the Green Lantern oath.
During the Q&A portion of the panel, a cute little very young boy wearing a Green Lantern t-shirt came up to the microphone and asked Reynolds what it felt like to say the Green Lantern oath. In response, Reynolds said he’d show him what it was like and as the crowd fell silent, he recited the oath.
In brightest day, in blackest night
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil’s might
Beware my power… Green Lantern’s light
