| Because, Awesome: How Big Is Your Spaceship?
Taxonomy posters have a long history in entertainment and education. They can range from a staid and serious presentation of the comparative anatomy of mammals for the college lecture hall to the free and breezy relationships between kinds of beer that are perfectly at home in the college dorm room. We recently spotted a new poster-sized graphic of “Size Comparison – Science Fiction spaceships” from artist Dirk Loechel that pretty much took our breath away. It covers ships from approximately 35 different popular science fiction universes from books, games, film, and television, including Star Wars, Star Trek, Farscape, and much more. They are all rendered in the same scale according to the best sources that Mr. Loechel could find. Click on the image below to go to the author’s web site and zoom in on the real thing.

While the fight to see the TV series return (or at the very least a couple of straight-to-video movies) continues, a new Serenity comic is on the way from Dark Horse that will offer something fans have not seen since the movie, and that is a continuation of the story. Keep reading for more on where the story picks up (spoilers if you’ve not yet watched…in which case why?!) and to see a couple of preview images from the new comic.

| Because, Awesome: ‘Firefly’ Ship Serenity Appears In The Clouds
Whoever says Joss Whedon‘s criminally canceled Firefly is dead and gone clearly underestimates the passion of the show’s ever growing fanbase…even over a decade after the show was ended. One line from the show’s opening song that’s grown to become a sort of motto for fans in their ongoing fight to see Netflix or someone else resurrect the show, standing for tenacity and determination, is “you can’t take the sky from me.” These words were never truer recently when a cloud formed to look very much like the Firefly crew’s ship, Serenity. You can check out the image below.
