Another big name actor in Susan Sarandon has been added to the growing impressive cast of Oliver Stone‘s sequel Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps. The movie is a follow-up to 1987’s Wall Street, which followed a young stock trader who becomes snagged in the dirty (and highly-profitable) underbelly of the trading world when big timer Gordon Gecko (Michael Douglas) takes him under his paper wings.

In the sequel, Douglas returns as Gecko, who is just being released after a long prison sentence. In order to reconnect with his daughter, Winnie (Carey Mulligan), he helps out her fiance (Shia LaBeouf), who is fittingly a new talent in the world of stock trading.

When Transformers came out in 2007 and was a huge hit, you had to have known that a sequel was waiting in the wings. While it was an entertaining movie, it was far from perfect, due to the fact that it had to set up a lot of the origin story. Now with Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the sequel can hit the ground running, but does it deliver like its predecessor?

It has been two years since our main protagonist Sam (Shia LaBeouf) has encountered the Transformers and life has moved on. He is going to college and trying to maintain a long distant relationship with his girlfriend Mikaela (Megan Fox). He has all but put the Transformers behind him but unfortunately, the Decepticons have other ideas. Apparently remains of the All Spark, the cube that brought all electronic machines to life, are still on Earth and hold the key to giving the Decepticons the upper hand in the destruction of the Autobots. This puts Sam smack dab in the middle of the war between the Transformers once again.

Now, just so no one gets the wrong idea, if you have seen the first movie or have seen trailers of this movie, I am already assuming that you are not paying money to see Revolutionary Road. Revenge of the Fallen is about as big a popcorn flick as can be. The explosions are bigger, the action sequences are more eye-popping, and the overall story and dialogue are virtually non-existent. This is one movie that is all about eye candy folks, but that is not to say that that is a bad thing.

Just a few days ago, word swarmed the internet that Shia LaBeouf had decided to step away from the long-rumored Y: The Last Man adaptation (Read: Shia LaBeouf Takes Himself Out Of The “˜Y: The Last Man’ Equation), where he was set to play the lead Yorick Brown behind director D.J. Caruso. LaBeouf had apparently come to the conclusion that the character of Yorick was far too similar to his Transformers character, Sam Witwicky, and that wasn’t a good thing for him.

Many loved this news because, well, Yorick Brown is a hell of a lot more complicated than Sam Witwicky, for one; but if LaBeouf did play the part in Y, he would definitely seem like Sam Witwicky just by default, and this was bad. Unfortunately for those who had become elated with this recent development, it has now quickly been clarified.

Shia LaBeouf sat down with Frosty from Collider and let it all pour out. He explained that Y: The Last Man is his absolute favorite comic book, and it’s D.J. Caruso’s favorite as well, so they still really want to do it. He also clarified that right now, right this moment, the script is nowhere near ready. But because of the similarity of Witwicky and Yorick Brown, he wants to do something else now, but doesn’t want to completely walk away from Y: The Last Man either. This means that LaBeouf is looking to do a couple of other projects over the next few years first, and then, when things are more prepared, he would be willing to look at this project again.

This is about as simple and subtle a news story as there can be, but considering the topic, it is indeed well worth a mention.

While promoting Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen over in the U.K., the BBC was able to obtain a tiny little morsel out of star Shia LaBeouf in regard to potential next Indiana Jones movie. Oddly enough, you can actually hear everyone take a deep sigh while reading that last line. When asked about the next movie, LaBeouf seemingly announced that director Steven Spielberg had actually figured out what the next story would be and that he was “gearing up” for it. This of course does not confirm or guarantee another movie is going to actually be made, but consensus seemed to be: if they figured out a good enough story, they would be up for doing another movie.

After the critically crucified fourth installment in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, fans were enraged and heartbroken and it was all just a really large mess. If they do plan on making a fifth film, it’s going to have to be remarkably better in order to win hearts back. Rumors have circulated that there was a possible plan to make Crystal Skull, and then keep making new Indiana Jones movies as the lead was slowly passed along from Harrison Ford to LaBeouf. This would take the Indiana Jones franchise to a veritable James Bond level where the character out-grows any particular face and different actors and directors could come along and create various stories of adventure. Some people seem to like this idea; others weep at the thought. I’m personally on the fence about it. All that I do know is: make one hundred movies using the formula that you used to make the first three, and many of them will be loved. Step away from that original formula again, and you will likely fail.

Transformers has taken over the Luxor on the Las Vegas strip.

A huge wrap of Transformers is currently covering an entire side of the Vegas casino hotel, which looks like the film’s main bot Optimus Prime is bursting out of the 500-feet-high pyramid-shaped building. The Optimus Prime image is over 100,000 square feet.
