Call of Duty: WWII

Call of Duty: WWII
Xbox One l PS4 l PC
DEVELOPER: Sledgehammer Games
PUBLISHER: Activision
RELEASE DATE: November 3, 2017

I haven’t reviewed a Call of Duty game since Black Ops II back in 2012. Hell, I haven’t even played a Call of Duty game since then. Mainly because the series kept venturing further and further into high-tech futuristic settings.

But for the latest game in the series, Call of Duty: WWII, the franchise returns to its roots. So when Activision offered a chance to review the game, I simply couldn’t resist the opportunity to revisit the franchise as it revisited World War II.

Transformers: The Last Knight feat Bumblebee

Transformers: The Last Knight
Director: Michael Bay
Screenwriters: Matt Holloway, Ken Nolan, Art Marcum
Cast: Mark Wahlberg, Anthony Hopkins, Josh Duhamel, Laura Haddock, Isabela Moner, Jerrod Carmichael, Jim Carter, John Goodman, Ken Watanabe, Omar Sy, Peter Cullen
Distributor: Paramount Pictures
Rated PG| 149 Minutes
Release Date: June 21, 2017

Transformers: The Last Knight continues the franchise’s long line of large-scale visuals, epic explosions, poorly written scripts, and lack of care for its own continuity. Even after four of these films, the new Transformers installment fails to learn from any of the previous lessons, and instead, chooses to double down (or should I say quadruples down) on them. So let’s not stand on ceremony and just say what we already know: Transformers: The Last Knight is just another two and half hours’ worth of explosion porn fest with a nonsensical script that has plenty of sexual overtones and characters that play to their racial stereotypes. Oh, and let’s not forget all those explosions and shouting matches. Check out my full review below.

Transformers: The Last Knight

By now we should all know that the Transformers films are not subtle and clearly lacking in narrative. But that’s okay. Since 2007 these films have been blowing up cities and the box office. But now it all comes to an end for director Michael Bay (or does it?).

Transformers: The Last Knight will be his final film (is it really?), and he intends to go out with a Bayhem bang. Though the Transformers film franchise has had a history of just being big robots and big explosions, The Last Knight may be the first to actually expand on the long history of the alien robot species’ relationship with humans. Check out the newest trailer for the film below.

Transformers: The Last Knight Header image

No matter what you think of the Transformers film franchise, Paramount will continue to release new films as long as they are a box office success. They’ve even gone as far as expanding the world by planning for 14 films featuring multiple spinoffs and sequels. And it’s going to be important to know what will happen to the future of this franchise now that Michael Bay has declared that Transformers: The Last Knight will be his last time directing in that franchise.

Trailers have shown us that the Autobots and Decepticons have been on earth for much longer than we originally thought. In fact, they were on this earth as far back as medieval times and even had a role in World War II. How much of an impact they had is still unclear, but a new set of released images give us some sense of their “historical” importance. Check them out below.
