| Sony Wants To Bring More Diversity To Their Spider-Man Spinoff Films |
|
Venom is considered to be the starting point for Sony’s Spider-Man-less Universe. It’s a superhero world where Spider-Man supporting characters, villains, and anti-heroes exist, but without the Webslinger. Don’t worry, many are still trying to wrap their heads around the idea that such a shared universe could work. But the studio believes they have something on their hands, as noted by the announcements of titles like Morbius, starring Jared Leto, and Kraven The Hunter, which is being penned by Richard Wenk. But Sony has even bigger plans for this developing universe. According to new reports, they are making an effort to bring in more diversity and inclusiveness to it. This includes splitting Silver and Black, the Black Cat and Silver Sable spinoff from Love and Basketball director Gina Prince-Bythewood, into two standalone films. Additionally, the studio has announced plans for Silk, Jackpot, and Nightwatch films that would feature a Korean-American webslinger and an African-American superhero on the big screen. More on the story below.

| Sony’s Spider-Man-Less Universe Spinoff ‘Silver And Black’ Gets Undated
The saga of Sony’s Spider-Man-less Universe spinoffs continues. The series of spinoffs would give Spider-Man supporting characters their own cinematic universe, but without the prominent webslinger. It’s not clear how that would work, but the studio believes that they could create a successful franchise based on these characters. The upcoming Venom film directed by Ruben Fleischer, a dark take on the anti-hero, would be the first. Silver And Black was to be the second. However, new reports are saying that the film has been taken off Sony’s release schedule. More on the story below.

| Sony Has Plans To Expand Their Spider-Man-Less Spinoff Universe
Spider-Man recalls that there was a point in time when Sony had the ambitious plans of creating a cinematic universe on the back of the fairly weak Amazing Spider-Man movies. Those plans never came to fruition, and the studio was forced to scale back on the plans, even resorting to sharing the Webslinger with their Marvel competitors over at Disney. However, that deal worked out in both of their favors, and with Spider-Man: Homecoming being such a huge success, Sony can look forward to building a Spider-Man-less cinematic universe using supporting characters like Venom, Silver Sable, and Black Cat. The studio has already announced that there will be two films based on those characters, and they intend to announce a few more in the coming months. More on this story below.
