Taken

In addition to talking about how his latest film, Colombiana, began as a sequel to the 1994 Luc Besson film, The Professional, director Olivier Megaton also chatted about another sequel he has coming up in Taken 2.

Megaton talked about approaching the sequel cautiously, as well as figuring out how to utilize star Liam Neeson, who even he admits was in a movie that was all too similar to Taken with the 2011 flick, Unknown.

New ‘Dune’ Director Pierre Morel Wasn’t Satisfied With David Lynch’s Movie; Has Big Plans

Dune

It hasn’t been long since Pierre Morel was hired to step in and direct the new film being based on the 1965 Frank Herbert novel, Dune. As you know, David Lynch was the director of a 1984 film of the same name that was based on the book, but don’t for one second think that this new movie has anything to do with that film — no, this is an entirely new interpretation of the story.

Morel spoke to MTV recently, where he was sure to explain his plans for this new venture.

The Taken director first explained that he was a big fan of the book, and that he really wasn’t happy with the ’84 film:

Like many people, I was not fully satisfied with David Lynch’s movie in 1984. I do respect David, and I think his interpretation and vision was interesting, but not what we [fans] expected. And I thought I’d give it a chance, try to do this, make it faster and more modern. I think that now, in 2010, we have the technology to achieve much more than David could do twenty-five years ago. I think it will be cool to try something different.

First Official Image Of The New ‘A-Team’ Together

The Movie God   |  @   |

A short time ago, someone was able to snap a photo of the cast of Joe Carnahan‘s (Smokin’ Aces) new TV show adaptation, The A-Team while on the set (Read: Super Geek Peek: New Images From ‘Green Hornet,’ ‘A-Team’ & More!). The image was decent, but it was far away and it looked like they were on break, so it was hard to go nutty over. Now the very first official image of the group together has been released, and you get a really strong idea of how the characters will look and how they’ve modernized some small things.

In the image is Bradley Cooper (The Hangover, Wedding Crashers) as Face; former UFC champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson as B.A. Baracus; Liam Neeson (Kingdom of Heaven, Taken) as Hannibal; and Sharlto Copley (District 9) as Murdoch.

Click on over to the other side to check out the brand new first image of the gang together, and for comparison’s sake, I’ve included a lovely little photo of the original cast above, so feel free to click and compare away.

“Turn it off! Turn if off! TURN IT OFF!”
— Jake VanDorn from Hardcore

“Come on, Bennett, throw away that chicken-shit gun. You don’t just want to pull a trigger. Put the knife in me and look me in the eye and see what’s going on in there when you turn it.”
— John Matrix from Commando

“I don’t know who you are. I don’t know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don’t have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that’ll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don’t, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.”
— Bryan Mills from Taken

Taken: An Efficient Dog Of War

We live in uncertain economic times. A night out at the movies has to be worth the price of admission. People want to escape from their lives for a few hours. They want to escape into the dark theaters for entertainment, for escapism. It does not surprise me that Paul Blart: Mall Cop was number one at the North American box office for two weekends in a row. I have not seen the film and I must say I have very little interest in seeing it, but I see the appeal very clearly. You can take the whole family to see it. Does it surprise anyone that Marley And Me and Bedtime Stories did as well as they did during the holiday season? It should not; these are films that whole families can go see and enjoy together.
