| Marvel Talks Future Projects; Who Will You See In ‘The Avengers’ Movie?

After the Iron Man 2 panel at Comic Con ’09 that apparently blew every mind in the room multiple times over, io9 was able to grab producer Kevin Feige and ask him some questions about upcoming Marvel projects, including how they’re attempting to make sure all cast actors work well together, and who we’ll see in the superhero mega-movie: The Avengers. When it comes to movies like Captain America and Thor, not only will they be testing actors along with pre-exisiting stars like Iron Man‘s Robert Downey Jr., they’ve already started doing this. Recently-cast Chris Hemsworth, who will be picking up one large hammer as Thor, has already met with Downey Jr., who has also met with a few potential Captain America candidates. This is of course all a very smart method of ensuring that all of the actors that will be returning to their roles for The Avengers have a strong on-screen chemistry.

| SDCC 09: Marvel’s Cup O’ Joe Panel Report |
 |

Marvel Comics had a couple of big announcements today at the Cup O’ Joe panel at the San Diego Comic-Con, and one that frankly blew my mind. The big announcement of the day was that Marvel has apparently acquired the rights to Marvelman — or Miracleman as he may be better known as. (See SDCC 09: Marvel Acquires Rights to “˜Marvelman’.)
This news came as a shock to the audience, since the rights to the character have been tied up for many years in a long string of legal disputes. The announcement today states that they have purchased the rights from original creator Mick Anglo, who knows how this will work out with the other disputes, but publisher Dan Buckley went into a bit of how they were dealing with Mick Anglo and it sounds like they have everything lined up. I’m curious myself to learn more details on how this happened, but since I’ve never been able to read the work that Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman did with the character in the 80’s and 90’s, I’m very excited. Now specific publishing plans were announced, beyond a vague 2010 release, but Buckley said that they were talking with Moore and Gaiman, and the artists from the most recent stories, so it sounds like they are treating the character with a lot of respect. It will be interesting to see how much information comes out on this in the next few days.

| Writers Want Hulk As A Villain In ‘Avengers’ Movie MTV did a little looking into who could possibly be the villain in The Avengers movie, which has many superheroes fighting together as a team. When asking The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier, he said he would rather they used a hero as the villain.
So, how about the Hulk himself? The boys who wrote Iron Man, Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, happen to think that’s a fantastic idea, stating that they believe everything has come around perfectly for Hulk to be the hero-villain in The Avengers.

| Will Edward Norton Ever Hulk Up Again? |
By MajorJJH

It was, in my opinion, the best portrayal of a superhero this year, but it looks as if Marvel is once again going to shortchange actor Edward Norton. The man who played Bruce Banner, aka, The Hulk, in the incredibly (teehehe) successful The Incredible Hulk, has suggested that Marvel won’t have him back.
Norton said that “the minds of Marvel are sometimes opaque. I won’t say they’re obtuse, but I don’t have any idea what they want to do.” He also noted that he is being kept thoroughly in the dark concerning Marvel’s plans for him, and whether they will want him in The Avengers movie Marvel is planning. “They’ve got this notion of collecting the Marvel characters,” said Norton, who appeared a bit skeptical of Marvel’s ambitious plans for the project. “Who knows where they’ll go?”
