Yet another streaming service called Boomerang is on the way, this one catering specifically to children and your own inner child.

The service, from Time Warner, will offer a vast trove of classic cartoons from the libraries of MGM, Warner Brothers, and Hanna-Barbera. That’s over 5,000 titles, including Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, The Flintstones, Scooby-Doo, The Jetsons, and more.

‘The Jetsons’ Animated Film Coming From WB; Matt Lieberman To Write

The Jetsons cartoon

Warners Bros. will be making an animated Jetsons movie and has hired Matt Lieberman to write the script, according to Deadline, who added that the writer got the gig after his work on the animated Scooby-Doo movie for the studio.

The animated feature film will be based on the 1960s Hanna-Barbera series The Jetsons, for which WB now owns the archives (they acquired this in 1996 when they merged with Turner, which had held the rights since 1991). The cartoon TV series, which was the Space Age answer to the prehistoric Flintstones, centered on Orbit City residents, The Jetsons: George Jetson, his wife Jane, daughter Judy, and son Elroy, along with their dog Astro and robot maid Rosie.

The Jetsons - Greetings From Orbit City

Can’t wait for a sequel to The Karate Kid or a live action Jetsons film? Well, it appears as though you’re going to have to, as they both have gotten a new writer.

According to Variety, Sony has tapped Zak Penn to rewrite their upcoming sequel to the huge hit that was the Karate Kid remake, and the pair of Evan Susser and Van Robichaux (the pair behind the Black Listed Chewie) have been hired to re-write The Jetsons.

The Jetsons - Greetings From Orbit City

No one rants like Kanye West rants.

Over Wednesday night, the beloved and controversial rapper took to Twitter to discuss a cavalcade of things ranging from our broken education systems, to what he saw during his and Jay-Z’s recent “Watch The Throne” Tour. And apparently, he revealed something kind of crazy.

The artist revealed that he has been approached to be the creative director for the much talked about and impending Jetsons film.

The Jetsons - Greetings From Orbit City

The t-shirt deal of the day over at RIPT Apparel is the Jetsons-inspired “Greetings From Sunny Orbit City.”

The tee, by artist Andy Hunt, went on sale at RIPT today, Sunday, January 16, 2011, at midnight CST, and will continue for 24 hours from then, and once it’s over, it will not be sold on the site anymore.

The t-shirt is available in men’s and women’s sizes in red for $10 each. Kids sizes are $15 (Boys, Girls, and Toddler, all in red); Onesies are $18 (in red). You can also get the design on a Hoodie for $38 (in red in Men/Unisex sizes).
