| ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ and The Strength Of Women |
|
Star Wars films have made more than an impact in film and pop culture, they have also paved the way for major revolutions. These films have opened the doors for young girls to accept their roles as heroes, or in this case Jedi. They don’t have to play the role of the damsel in distress, now they can be fearless warriors fighting the good fight. And we will see more of that now that there are a lot more powerful female characters in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Whether it is Rey (Daisy Ridley) training to become a Jedi, General Leia (Carrie Fisher) and Admiral Holdo (Laura Dern) overseeing military strategies for the Resistance, or Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran) infiltrating the First Order, young girls have a lot more characters to look up to. Geeks of Doom was invited to sit down with their fellow journalists to talk about the incredible changes that have been happening in the past few years and how having more female characters have given their young female fans someone to cheer for and quite possibly be inspired by. Check out what they had to say below.

| How ‘The Last Jedi’ Is A ‘Star Wars’ Film and Also Something Else Entirely
Star Wars is entering a new age within its own legacy. These new films have become much more diverse in characters and in tone since being acquired by Disney. With Star Wars: The Last Jedi just a few weeks away from release, director Rian Johnson was tasked with continuing J.J. Abrams’ The Force Awakens story. While it may sound like he was confined to a certain narrative, Johnson never forgot that this ultimately was a Star Wars movie. Geeks of Doom had a chance to sit down with their fellow journalists to talk to the director and cast about the upcoming film, how it may differ from The Force Awakens and other sequels in general, and how making it has impacted their lives. Check out that they had to say below, along with some images from the press junket.

| ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’: Admiral Holdo Creates Friction Within The Resistance
Earlier this week, we got to see a handful of new photos for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and we learned quite a few things about it. Among those things is that there will be some infighting within the Resistance. The events of The Force Awakens have left the faction broken and scattered across the cosmos, and it will be up to General Leia (Carrie Fisher) and Admiral Holdo (Laura Dern) to put the pieces back together. However, those same images are teasing the idea that Leia could pass down her power of leadership to Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), the Resistance’s ace pilot, and it appears that he and Holdo have very different ways of bringing an end to the war between themselves and the First Order. Find out more about Holdo’s role in the film in the full story below.
