A remake of the brilliant Thin Man, itself based off of a Dashiell Hammett novel, isn’t a piece that is being clamored about too much. It’s a beloved classic, and at this point, it doesn’t seem like it will be done the justice it deserves.  That is, until this bit of news.

David Koepp has been brought in to pen the script for The Thin Man, a remake of the 1934 classic of the same name that Johnny Depp set up with Warner Brothers last year through his Infinitum Nihil banner.

The original movie was based on a 1934 novel by Dashiell Hammett, also called The Thin Man. It was one of what would become a six–film series, all of which starred William Powell and Myrna Loy as a married couple””he a former private detective and she a socialite””who sit around drinking together in Prohibition-era New York City before deciding to solve a murder.
