Though the Marvel’s Thor franchise has long been considered one of the weakest franchises in the MCU, it is by far the funniest. It never took itself too seriously, as it should considering this is a superhero film dealing with an Asgardian god trying to navigate through human customs and cultures. And perhaps its strength is also its greatest weakness. But its success spawned not only multiple sequels, but Thor’s inclusion in other films like the Avengers and Doctor Strange. So while we know what to expect from a Thor film, it finally took two of them to fully realize what it should have fully embraced.

Taika Waititi‘s Thor: Ragnarok is a fantastic Thor flick from start to finish. Full of humor and action, it is true sequel to the first film by recognizing that it is a Thor film, while being tons of fun, whimsical, humorous, and then some. In a lot of ways, the film is a reinvention of the franchise, using its heavy metal look to give the character a surprising (and in some cases) a much-needed facelift. It can be a bit flawed thanks in part to the threads that are forced to connect itself to the MCU. But since that will always be an element in play for all these films, it doesn’t take away from the fun of it. My full review below.

Thor Ragnarok Valkyrie

While Marvel Studios has paved the way for strong heroines, they still are way behind in getting a female superhero standalone film out. So as fans anxiously await the arrival of Captain Marvel, many other female superheroes are making a case for their own standalone feature and even an all-female Avengers-type film.

Case in point, Tessa Thompson who plays Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok. As Valkyrie, she is a strong fearless warrior who proves to be more than a match for Thor. But she hides a few battle scars that she received from an encounter with Hela (Cate Blanchett).

We were recently invited to sit down with our fellow journalists to talk to the cast of Thor: Ragnarok, where Thompson talked about her role in the film, her response to some of the changes to Valkyrie, and how she rallied her fellow female superheroes and asked Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige for an all-female superhero film. More on the story below.

Thor: Ragnarok

To celebrate the start of the NFL season, Marvel teased fans everywhere with a clash of titans of their own — the one between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), which we will see in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok. But to avoid spoilers, we won’t know who the victor is until the film comes out. Though, a few trailers see Thor lying to Bruce Banner, who seems a little confused that he could lose to someone like Thor. But one thing is for sure, we are going to see a brand new team-up featuring some of the MCU’s best fantastical heroes. Now if they could just figure out a name.

Check out the latest TV spot for Thor: Ragnarok here below.

Thor: Ragnarok Header Photo

Thor films have always been colorful. Unlike some of his earthly counterparts, Asgard has been heavy on the fantasy aspect by draping the world in imaginative and fantastical designs.

But with the film just another two months away from release, Marvel is stepping up the marketing game by releasing a set of new Thor: Ragnarok character posters. However, these character posters have a bit more of an artistic pop to them than the generic backgrounds we are used to seeing. Check them all out below.
