Yahya Abdul-Mateen II Not Replacing Tony Todd As Candyman After All

Last month it was reported that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II was in talks to join writer and producer Jordan Peele‘s spiritual sequel to Candyman. At the time it sounded like Abdul-Mateen II would be taking over the title role played by Tony Todd in the 1992 original and all of its sequels, but apparently that is not the case.
Director Nia DaCosta spoke briefly about the spiritual sequel recently, and revealed that Abdul-Mateen II actually wasn’t replacing Todd as the new Candyman. See what she had to say below.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II In Talks To Play Candyman In Spiritual Sequel From Jordan Peele

One big question about Jordan Peele‘s spiritual sequel to the 1992 horror classic Candyman, was whether original star Tony Todd would return to once again play the iconic title role or if someone new would be cast.
Now it appears we have an answer. It’s being reported that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has entered into negotiations to play the new Candyman in the movie.

Official Trailer For Jordan Peele’s ‘The Twilight Zone’ Released

We first found out that the Academy Award winning writer and director behind Get Out, Jordan Peele, was producing a new take on The Twilight Zone back in 2017. Since that time we’ve seen a teaser video and a Super Bowl spot, and also found out that Peele himself would be hosting the anthology series.
Now CBS All Access has released an official trailer for the brand new Twilight Zone. On top of that, they’ve also revealed a premiere date for the show. You can find the info and watch the trailer below.

Nia DaCosta To Direct ‘Candyman’ Spiritual Sequel

Well, that didn’t take long. After it was reported that Jordan Peele would be acting as a producer on a new Candyman spiritual sequel, there is now a new director attached.
Reports confirm Nia DaCosta (Little Woods) will help bring back Candyman, who has been played by Tony Todd in previous installments, to the big screen. More on the report below,

Jordan Peele’s ‘The Twilight Zone’ Casts Adam Scott In New Take On “Nightmare At 20,000 Feet”

In case you missed it, it was announced a few days back that Adam Scott (Party Down, Step Brothers) was joining the cast of Get Out director Jordan Peele‘s new take on The Twilight Zone coming to CBS All Access.
But what’s more exciting is the episode of the anthology Scott will be starring in, which is titled “Nightmare at 30,000 Feet.” If that name sounds familiar, it’s because one of the best known episodes of the original Twilight Zone was titled “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet.” So it appears that this new show will present its own version of the classic segment.

Amazon Orders Nazi Hunter Series ‘The Hunt’ From Jordan Peele, David Weil

Add another project to the insanely busy schedule of Jordan Peele. Amazon Studios has given a 10-episode straight-to-series order to a new series titled The Hunt, which will be executive produced by Peele.
The series, which is created by David Weil, tells the story of a group of Nazi hunters. It’s based on an original idea, and draws inspiration from some real-life events.
