‘Yogi Bear’ Looks To Sneak Into Awards Contention With Violent Alternate Ending

Alternate endings are one or more endings to a movie that were passed over for the closing moments everyone eventually sees. Sometimes these alternates are horrible, but many times there are people who actually prefer the cut endings to the used ones.

Running with that thought, someone decided to make their own alternate ending for a movie very few (if any at all) people are excited about seeing. The movie is Yogi Bear, Warner Brothers’ animated/live-action hybrid adaptation of the beloved cartoon character, which features the voices of Dan Aykroyd as Yogi and Justin Timberlake as his sidekick Boo-Boo.

Instead of using the goofy, silly, and kid-aimed humor we saw in the first trailer for Yogi Bear, it was decided to take things in a slightly more dramatic direction. Using inspiration from Andrew Dominik’s The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, the alternate ending presents us with a tense situation in which there’s a $5,000 reward on the head of Yogi…and Boo-Boo is tempted.

The first trailer and poster for the upcoming live-action/CGI cartoon adaptation Yogi Bear has shown up online. The movie will join Garfield, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Marmaduke, Scooby-Doo, and the upcoming release of The Smurfs as similar cartoon makeover movies we’ve seen made.

Yogi Bear features the voices of Dan Aykroyd as Yogi and Justin Timberlake as Boo-Boo. The live-action roles will be filled with Anna Faris as Rachel, Tom Cavanagh (TV’s Ed) as Ranger Smith, and Cloverfield‘s T.J. Miller as Ranger Jones.

Yogi

In yet another announcement regarding a classic cartoon character, it appears as though there is a Yogi Bear movie in the works, and it’s actually set to begin filming next month. Naturally, this will be another hybrid movie that will mix live-action humans with the former cartoons getting their CGI makeover.

This comes from an Entertainment Weekly report stating that there are three big names currently in negotiations to take the lead roles in the movie: Dan Aykroyd, Justin Timberlake, and Anna Faris. If these talks all work out in the end, Aykroyd would voice the picnic-addicted bear Yogi; Timberlake would take on his tiny little buddy Boo-Boo, and Faris would be playing a nature documentary film maker named Rachel that chooses the bears as her latest project.
