When someone makes a movie for less than a new car ($15,000) and it goes on to make over $100 million at the box office, you can guarantee yourself that a sequel is not too far off. And such is the case with Paranormal Activity 2 — the follow-up to the massive “home movie” horror flick that terrified the money right out of the pockets of gushing fans last Fall.
Since we’ve always known a sequel was coming and didn’t have to wait for a greenlight, the question has always been who would direct the sequel. The first movie’s captain, Oren Peli, has already lined up a new job doing a similar movie involving aliens called Area 51, and it was he who was happy to announce who would be taking over for him on Paranormal 2 via the official website.
I have some awesome news for the fans of Paranormal Activity — director
Kip Williams will join us for the next chapter of the story.
We are thrilled to have Kip working with us. He is the guy we want at the helm, because he knows exactly what we want to deliver to the fans…and I can’t wait to be a part of what he’s putting together.
I don’t want to spoil the story, buy I promise it’ll surprise you. Stay tuned.
Oren
So who’s Kip Williams you ask? Well, he’s also called Tod, and he hasn’t done a whole lot yet, but he did write and direct Jeff Bridges and Kim Basinger in The Door in the Floor. Williams also wrote and directed two other films called The Adventures of Sebastian Cole and Wings Over the Rockies.
