Fan favorite holiday movie (Halloween or Christmas — take your pick), The Nightmare Before Christmas has seen its share of new DVD, Blu-ray, and theatrical releases over the years. The Tim Burton-produced, Henry Selick-directed stop motion animated classic has already seen a 3D release, so what could be next? Well, a 4D release, of course!
It’s been announced that The Nightmare Before Christmas will have a special 10-day run at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, spanning from October 21 to Halloween night. The movie with screen in its Disney Digital 3D format, but with a little something extra to push into the realms of 4D, such as wind and smoke effects within the theater.
For those of you lucky enough to be in that area who want to make an evening of the event, you’ll also have the option of taking part in the Pumpkin King dinner, which you can set up with reservations. The Nightmare Before Christmas-themed dinner will run you $25 a person and offers four entrees to select from, and some festive options like Italian Eyeball Soup, Blood Punch, and a “Ghoulish” cupcake decorating contest.
Each night will offer two shows to attend, but one particular night will be the one to aim for if you can snatch up some tickets before it sells out. This show is the 7pm one on October 22nd, at which none other than composer Danny Elfman will be performing live. Elfman will conduct music from the upcoming Danny Elfman & Tim Burton 25th Anniversary Music Box collection, which will be released in December.
The special collection will only consist of 1000 limited edition units, and contains music from Burton and Elfman’s 13 cinematic collaborations. It holds 16 CDs and over 19 hours of music, including 7 hours of previously unreleased content. If that wasn’t enough, it comes in a great collectible box, and also contains original artwork by Burton, a Skeleton Key USB Flash Drive, and a 250-page hardcover book. A must have for fans of the duo’s work. You can check it out RIGHT HERE.
