‘Ghostbusters 3’ Is A Go With ‘Office’ Writers

GhostbustersThere’s been a Ghostbusters 3 rumor for years now that crops up every 3-6 months only to be immediately shot down.

Late last year, the word was that the only new Ghostbusters we were sure to get would be in the form of a video game from Vivendi Games. Prior to that there was star Dan Aykroyd’s script for Ghostbusters 3: Hellbent, which languished in limbo reportedly because of monetary difficulties in getting some original castmembers to return.

That might not be a problem anymore, as the trades are now reporting that Columbia Pictures has brought on Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky — who write and produce for NBC’s The Office — to pen the script for a third film which would reunite original cast of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson. None of the original cast has officially signed on for a new film at this time.

Eisenberg and Stupnitsky just co-wrote the Harold Ramis-directed comedy Year One, starring Jack Black.

  3. This could finally be it.
I have heard about this for years, if not decades.
I wonder if Ramis and Aykroyd will contribute to the script.

  4. WOW this would be GREAT. The video game looks really really good as the entire cast contributed to voice overs and storyline. Might as well snowball the hype from the game. I think on-screen these guys are fantabulous. Reminds me of the Anchorman cast.. only, with some brains..

  7. Ghost Buster 3?.This would be cool since its the return of the Generation X decade. But who is going to play The original cast? from the 80’s That they were great Ernie Hudson,Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd,Harold Ramis: Now there casting for the movie in 2009 2010..not a bad cast Adam Sandler,Chris Tucker,Ben Stiller,Norm McDonald?.Sounds cool but will it work for this Generation?. They have to realize that if they bring it back from the dead it better not suck! Because I’m kinda worried about The return of G.I. JOE in 2009 G.I. JOE RISE OF COBRA. I hope this movie will sell out! It will be in 2009 26 years of G.I JOE when the movie comes out. Who knows hopefully it will be a Blockbuster.
