If there was a trailer before the teaser trailer, this would be what it looked like.
In what seems like more of a sales-pitch for the currently available-for-purchase film, a small behind-the-scenes video has been released with director Terry Gilliam chatting about The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, the last film that Heath Ledger ever appeared in.
Check out the ultra-teaser below; click the image above to get a bigger peek at some of the set.
In the clip, we see a lot of footage of Gilliam’s older, more visually stunning projects like Time Bandits, 12 Monkeys, and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (among others) to give a feel of what we can hope to expect with Parnassus. Mixed in with all of this footage, we also are treated to some concept art, small clips, and images from The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, including various cast members, Ledger among them.
Since Ledger died before he was able to film all of his scenes, three actors stepped into replace him — Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell; in the video, only their names appear on the scene, so we still don’t know what their roles will be like.
From what they show, it definitely looks visually up to par with the other movies Gilliam has done. Whether it will be good or not is another question; but I’m more excited now than I was before. It really looks like it could be magical — weird, but magical.
Here’s hoping someone picks up this one soon so we actually get a chance to see it.
