Watch ‘Moonlight’ On SCI FI Friday Nights

Empress Eve   |  @   |

I just found out that the vampire drama Moonlight is now running on the SCI FI Channel on Friday nights at 9PM ET/PT (8PM C) right before Battlestar Galactica.

The series ran on CBS before it was prematurely canceled and, as I discovered at last year’s New York Comic-Con, had — and continues to have — a rabid fanbase. While I don’t know anything about whether the series will continue, I did see that SCI FI will run all 16 previously aired episodes.

Jason Dohring, who played Logan on Veronica Mars, stars as Josef Kostan, a 400-year-old vampire who is the friend and mentor to fellow vamp and private eye Mick St. John (Alex O’Loughlin).

The complete series was released this week on DVD and I had been thinking of picking it up, since the preview I saw at NYCC made me really want to check out the show. So now I’ll get to check it out on the SCI FI Channel and if I love it, I’ll get the DVD.

And I know, every since the Twilight, people are shying away from vampire tales, but Moonlight is an adult series, more mystery show than supernatural, from what I can tell. Seems like a serious drama and so far, no eye rolling.

Here’s the description of the series from Amazon:

Any private eye knows a lot about other people’s secrets. L.A. private eye Mick St. John (Alex O’Loughlin) has a secret of his own. He’s a vampire, dwelling in a covert netherworld complicated by friendship with an undead finance honcho (Jason Dohring), memories of the alluring ex- wife (Shannyn Sossamon) who turned him into a vampire, and a relationship with a human (Sophia Myles) he feels drawn to protect – and maybe to love. But no matter how tempting, Mick knows a vampire-human romance is eternally dangerous.

By the way, my apologies to the people on the East Coast for getting this up late, I only just found out that the show was airing tonight. I’ll check and see if the pilot is re-airing and when.

  6. my son brought the Moonlight dvd to me when it came out in Jan. my daughter also gave me one, then took it back b/c her husband loved it alter viewing 3 parts of the series. not continuing this series would be a giant financial mistake. this is the best vampire genre ever written. a big ‘thanks’ to the brilliant writing staff.

  7. One of the most intoxicating shows I’ve ever seen. The chemistry between the actors is top notch, and the storylines were starting to get real good before it was canceled. So much untapped potential in this show. I would give up any of my current shows that I like for Moonlight to come back.

  8. I have just learned about Moonlight being on Sci-Fi on Friday nights…. THANK GOODNESS!!!! I have been waiting and waiting for someone to finally see what a mistake it was that this series was cancelled from another channel and not picked up by anyone else until now. My daughter and I loved this show. I have not been watching anything on TV on Friday nights since…. there just hasn’t been anything offered that interested me at all…. Ghost Whisperer was ruined … so I don’t watch it anymore. I most definitely will be watching my favorite show again on Friday nights and I can’t wait to tell my daughter this wonderful news!!! Thank you Sci-Fi.. and I hope it will become a regular series again with new episodes beginning the next season. :)
