Fanboys has had about 26 different release dates set since 2007, many of which didn’t work out. One of the main concerns was the dying friend storyline that probably seemed a little “too much” for a lighthearted comedy. Ultimately — after screenings showed fans very much liked the storyline — it looks like it will be kept that way for the movie’s current release date of February 6, 2009.
Unfortunately, it appears that the movie will only be initially released in 8 cities on about 40 screens around the country, so if you want to see it expand, it will have to do very well that weekend.
