UPDATE: Good News”¦Sorta: “˜Futurama’ Gets Some Of Its Cast Back
What was looking to be bad news just a few days ago has begun great news today. According to the Toronto Star, the entire voice cast of Matt Groening‘s Futurama has agreed to return for 26 new episodes.
The episodes will air on Comedy Central once production has finished on them. The actors and studio had been in a dispute over the salary to be paid to the actors, with the studio going so far as to say they would replace the cast, and even putting out a casting call for new actors.
At the Futurama Panel at last weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con, Groening would only say that the negotiations were still ongoing, and it seems a sham that we couldn’t have gotten this news 6 days earlier.
The story goes on to report that Fox is saying only three of the cast have actually signed the deal, but the rest of the cast is expected to sign by the end of the day. Details are a bit small at this point, but this is really great news for fans of the show as I couldn’t see myself enjoying the show without the original cast.
