This is Halloween, this Halloween!
Yes, the holiday of witches, goblins, and ghouls has arrived, and there’s a lot of great deals out there to take advantage of on this glorious day. Check out today’s offerings, including some low-priced movie rentals!
As I was compiling this list, the first “Lightning Deal” at Amazon went up, so I’m adding it quickly to the top of this post so you can see it before it runs out at 9am PST (or while supplies last before that): Zombie Bundle: Day of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Evil Dead II on Blu-ray.
Ghostbusters: The Video Game – Slimer Edition
First up, the Gold Box deal of the day over at Amazon is Ghostbusters: The Video Game – Slimer Edition for Xbox 360 for only $44.98 (that’s 36% off the list price of $69.99). This deal is for today only while supplies last.
This video game features the voices of the original cast from the classic Ghostbusters films, including Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson, with Aykroyd and Ramis providing the script and storyline for the game.
Here’s what’s included in the “Slimer Edition” (which is exclusive to Amazon):
* An exclusive Slimer bust designed and created by the original movie sculptor, Steve Johnson. Comes complete with a certificate of authenticity signed by the sculptor himself.
* Exclusive Ghostbusters Gamer Graffix Skins.
* An exclusive (in the US) Ecto1 Key Chain that lights up and makes a siren sound.
Nightmare Revisited
The MP3 album deal of the day is Nightmare Revisited, the soundtrack for The Nightmare Before Christmas as performed by various artists, for only $2.99. There’s 21 songs on the album covered by artists like Marilyn Manson, The All-American Rejects, and Amy Lee of Evanescence. Composer Danny Elfman, who composed the original soundtrack and provides the singing voice for Jack Skellington, also adds his own “Opening” and “Closing” tracks to the album.
By the way, I found it amusing that for days now Warren Zevon’s Werewolves Of London has been the top downloaded rock song (it’s only 99 cents if you want it).
MOVIES & TV SHOW DEALS
Right now, Amazon’s Video On Demand is offering up select movie rentals for only 99 cents with their Spooky Specials. Catch 24-hour rentals for movies like Let The Right One In, Day of the Dead, and Shuttle. I also have to point out that the new Halloween horror movie Trick ‘r Treat is up for rental for only $1.99 — this is a must-see!
You can watch Bram Stoker’s Dracula for FREE with commercial interruptions Hulu if you’re in the U.S. or you can rent it as a digital download with no interruptions for 24 hours for $2.99 or buy it for only $4.99. (Hulu also has a lot of other free movies to watch for Halloween, like Candyman and Fright Night, during their Huluween event.
You can also get a discounted Video On Demand season pass for The Munsters Season 1 for $14.99 (all 38 episodes!).
Always available on Video On Demand is a bunch of movies under $5.99, like Underworld, The Blairwitch Project, Corpse Bride, and Hostel II.
