‘Lost’ & ‘Star Trek’ Composer Michael Giacchino To Bring Music To ‘Let Me In’

The Movie God   |  @   |

One of the best musical composers working today, Michael Giacchino, has announced that he will be handling the score for Matt Reeves‘ horror remake, Let Me In. Giacchino made the announcement on his official website.

The movie is a remake of popular Swedish vampire film Let the Right One In, and stars Chloe Moretz as a centuries old vampire who forms a close bond with a young boy (Kodi Smit-McPhee), and Richard Jenkins.

The original is so popular that a remake has sounded like a terrible idea from the start. As time goes on, however, Let Me In has looked better and better right up to the release of the first teaser trailer, which you can see at the bottom of this post if you missed it.

The hiring of Michael Giacchino is the latest thing to spark excitement in the project. The composer started out mainly in video games, scoring the very first titles in the popular Medal of Honor (remember that one on your original PlayStation with blank-faced Nazis?! Classic!) and Call of Duty, as well as J.J. Abrams’ Alias. But it was in 2004 when he exploded on to the scene with gigs scoring Pixar’s The Incredibles and a little TV show called Lost. Since then he’s done other Abrams projects like Fringe and Star Trek, and other Pixar films like Ratatouille and Up, for which he won his first Academy Award.

Along with Let Me In, Giacchino is also behind the score on Andrew Stanton’s live-action debut, John Carter of Mars.

  1. Did anyone else not find the first to be as amazing as everyone said it would be? I’m all for this one, especially if it doesn’t make me feel like a pedophile after watching it.
