Brad Pitt Officially Attached To Star In Marc Forster’s ‘World War Z’

The Movie God   |  @   |

Back in 2008, a film adaptation of the zombie survival novel World War Z was quickly gaining steam. J. Michael Straczynski was writing the script and Marc Forster was brought on to direct with hopes of a release some time in 2010, which clearly has not worked out so well. The movie was also moving under Brad Pitt‘s Plan B Entertainment, and many rumors had Pitt set to star in the adaptation as well.

Now comes word out of the Comic Con scene that the movie is still very much happening, and Pitt has gone from rumored star to officially attached to star. MTV was able to talk to the novel’s author and son of Mel Brooks, Max Brooks, who received a call sharing the good news with him.

The movie will take place a decade after a zombie infestation has occurred, and the story is told from the perspective of survivors of the event.

When talking about the new update, Brooks said:

I can’t believe how cool Paramount has been to me and these projects, and how cool Plan B has been. I’m glad they took their time, and are trying to make the best zombie movie they can; I’m so glad they stayed with the project and so glad they found the right team.

Even more good news for Brooks came when he was alerted that Paramount Pictures had also optioned his other books The Zombie Survival Guide and The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks.

Forster, who has directed Monster’s Ball, Finding Neverland, Stranger Than Fiction, and Quantum of Solace is also still attached to helm the movie, while Straczynski’s script was rewritten by Matthew Michael Carnahan (The Kingdom, Lions for Lambs, State of Play).

  1. Marc Foster? hmmmm. Quantum of Solace was very bad indeed. Hopefully this is the kind of movie he can have our attention with?
