Earlier today, we shared with you the story that’s been sweeping the country about a homeless man with one of the best radio voices you’ll ever hear, a happy ending has already presented itself.
While doing a lengthy radio interview with WNCI 97.9 in Columbus, Ohio, Ted Williams — now clean-cut and looking in much higher spirits — talked about becoming an overnight sensation and how all he was really humbly looking for was a second chance. The radio DJs that brought him in, Dave & Jimmy, were so inspired by his story that they wanted to get him on the air, and see if they could get any job or work opportunities to come through for Ted. What happened after that was nothing short of amazing.
In the first part, the station fielded some calls from people who had been moved by the story. The first was associated with MTV and wanted to fly Williams out to LA for some work as a guest announcer on one of their shows. Next up came a pair of people who turned out to be two of the top voice over talents working today — even going so far as to show off their talents as the guy we hear on CBS promos and the woman we hear during the Academy Awards telecast — who wanted to offer Williams the chance to compete in a competition to find the next big voice.
You can watch the video of that interview by clicking RIGHT HERE, and you can keep reading for an even more amazing offer and to see Ted Williams on The Early Show.
After the offers began pouring in, it kept getting better and better. The show got in contact with a woman who worked with none other than the Cleveland Cavaliers, and she had quite the offer for Mr. Williams…who was flustered by all of the offers and overwhelmed trying to figure out whether to go off to LA or NY or anywhere else. Her offer from the Cavaliers and their parent company, Quicken Loans? A full-time job doing voice work for their many different areas of need, as well as his very own house in Cleveland to help him really get moving in the right direction.
Williams instantly was overjoyed by the offer and accepted without a second thought, calling it the best offer he’s heard. You can hear this wonderful moment by heading HERE.
Lastly, Williams was also asked to appear on The Early Show on CBS, where he talked about the whole story and how he was preparing to head to New York to see his 92-year-old mother. Having not seen her in years and wanting desperately to show her he was able to turn his life around before she was gone, Williams became clearly emotional, as any of us would after such a stunning life turnaround. See the video for this below.
Once again, this is one of those heartwarming stories you love to see have a happy ending. We all knew he would get many offers, but for them to come this quickly and be this significant is just another reminder that the human race isn’t always as doomed as we sometimes fear.

Great article and great story. One thing I’d like to point out…The Today Show is on NBC, not CBS (next to last paragraph) :)
