DCU Online

It’s a day MANY of us have been waiting for, the highly anticipated DC Universe Online was released today for Playstation 3, and PC!

If you have seen any of the trailers, then you know why we are so excited for this game, and if you frequent this site, chances are you are just the type of person also be excited. Who doesn’t want to go around the DC universe, hanging out with Superman? Or punching Lex Luthor in the face?

There’s also a Collectors Edition of the game available, which comes with a collectible limited-edition Batman figure; a DCUO prestige comic of the game’s back-story as written by Geoff Johns; The Art of DC Universe Online art book with art from Jim Lee and the team at DC Comic’s Wildstorm Productions; and the new DCUO comic book, Legends Issue#0, with an original cover by Jim Lee; as well as The Joker’s Flying Jester in-game Weapon System for Villains and the Bat Drone in-game Weapon System for Heroes.

Here is the official synopsis of the game:

We join our hero perched atop a granite gargoyle high above the city of Gotham. His eyes squint as he monitors the streets below, searching for crooked criminal conduct. From afar, he hears the alarm from Gotham National Bank and he dives from the darkness into the illumination of the streets. He soars through the canyon of skyscrapers, hearing the buzz of the citizens below that he has chosen to protect. He sees the bank is only a block away “” just then a burst of red passes him to join in the fray. As the two heroes approach the crime scene, they hear the creepy cackling of The Joker. This will not be a run-of-the-mill fight for justice, but then again “” what is, in the DC Universe?

The game will run you 60 dollars on PlayStation and 50 on PC. There are a little less than that on Amazon right now. The game also comes with a 30 day subscription, after that it’s 15 bones a month. Would you pay 15 bucks to hang out with Batman? Seems like money well spent! Are you getting the game today? If so what are you most excited for?

  2. I was in the beta up to the end. The game was ok; I think Champions is better (in that beta also).
DCUO has such a closed in feel to it, it isn’t really expansive like you would think. The character creation is horribly limited. It is a fun game but I would never pay a monthly fee for it.
