When the first image we’ve seen from director Matthew Vaughn and producer Bryan Singer‘s upcoming comic book adaptation, X-Men: First Class hit the web recently, the response was pretty deep into the negative.
The one hope was that the image, as it appeared, was either leaked early or a rush job that led to its lackluster debut, and that anything after that would be more promising. And here we are now!
Three new images have come to the surface courtesy of Hero Complex, and they might just make you feel a little bit better about X-Men: First Class. That’s because they don’t concentrate on the mutants so much as they do the 1960s time period the movie takes place in. Fans should particularly enjoy a glimpse at James McAvoy as a young Professor X and Michael Fassbender as a young Magneto head-to-head in a game of chess.

Sorry, asides from a smokin’ hot January Jones as Emma Frost, the title of the movie should still be “X-Men: Failed Class”.
The casting might work, but the characters chosen to fill the roster is horrendous; if you’re making a X-Men origin story you go with the original 5: Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Iceman, and Angel. Seriously, Mystique as a founding member? And Havok looks like a total douche in the first image.

Why do people judge movies simply by the images released? No one will know if its going to be any good before it comes out. On top of that, there is no perfect comic book-to-feature film adaption. Hollywood is always going to change something.

I agree with burning chrome.
I’ve always been a huge X-Men fan. It was my childhood with the Saturday morning cartoons and comics. If you are going to go out there and make a movie called X-Men: First Class, it should be true to story. And in the original movies, we never even got the full background story on all the characters, except Wolverine and a bit with Jean and Angel (disappointing 3rd movie).
Regardless, I’m still gonna watch it, but with the foundation they’ve set, I don’t see this being a true blockbuster.

Seriously? I think you purists need to accept that most films based on any book are a hell of a lot better then the books or comic books they are based on.
The movie looks awesome! I can’t wait!
