Man Of Steel Picked For Zack Snyder’s ‘Superman’ Reboot
space
Hunter Camp   |

The Man of Steel has been found for the upcoming Zack Snyder, Christopher Nolan, and David Goyer-headed Superman reboot, and the Earth’s mightiest protector is none other than Henry Cavill (Stardust, The Tudors).

Though the British actor has been heavily rumored for the role for quite some time, the confirmation comes as a surprise to a lot of fans, mainly because of his physicality and his lack of American blood. I, for one, believe that if the actor is the best for the role, then that is all that matters.

Director Zack Snyder doesn’t share these fans’ fears, as he gave his thoughts in the official announcement from Warner Brothers.

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honored to be a part of his return to the big screen. I also join Warner Bros., Legendary and the producers in saying how excited we are about the casting of Henry. He is the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield.

I’ve had no problems with the casting of any character affiliated with any of this creative team’s comic book property, which includes films like Snyder’s Watchmen and Nolan’s Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, and I don’t plan on second guessing their decisions now.

But what about you guys? Do you feel like Superman should only be played by American actor? Do you love or hate Henry Cavill? Let us know in the comments section below.

The Superman reboot is scheduled for release in December of 2012.

  1. Well I am personally thrilled.

Ever since, well before, Superman Returns I rooted for this guy to get the part. He’s been so close in becoming Bond, Batman, Superman, but never got the part.
The unluckiest actor in the industry.

I am super surprised he auditioned again for Superman and, this time around, ended up with the part! Hopefully this role allows him to find better ones in the future than what he’s had thusfar.

I’m really excited- even if Superman is my least favorite hero. (Batman >>>>>>>>> Superman. heh.)

    So yeah I’m happy!

  4. I wanted Tom Welling to be cast for the Superman Reboot.
That being said, I respect the success of the Nolan team with Batman. I will not boycott the new Superman reboot, But I wanted to see The Smallville cast transition into the big screen.

Hell, all the postings for “Reboot” sort of left me knowing months ago that Smallville wouldn’t get to the big screen as Superman. They would have been forced to write around Smallville.

I will miss Smallville after it’s series ends this year.

  5. I am thrilled that Henry Cavill has finally gotten a role like this. If anyone doubts he can do the “American” thing, check out Blood Creek. If I’d never seen him in “The Tudors”, I never would’ve known he was British. As far as his acting chops, just watch him as Charles Brandon. He was fantastic.

  6. I am not happy that Henry Cavill was chosen for this role. I was
wanting Tom Welling to be the next superman. I am not saying that Cavill is not a good actor. Tom is “SUPERMAN” and I just feel the wrong person was picked for this part …I won’t go to
the movie but may eventually watch it once it is old enough to be on TV. Zack Snyder …you made a mistake on this one.

  7. I do not like this at all!! Tom Welling was screwed out of this roll. He and he alone should have been offered this roll he perfected for the past 10yrs and he looks the part hands down. Blue eyes not brown! over six foot three, fantastic built and he looks great in that suit, HE is SUPERMAN and that is the bottom line. Let the other guy whats his name(not that important) play STICK MAN or straw man because he will never look as good as Tom Welling(Take a good look at tom in the Superman suit) and then ask why not Tom???
