| ‘300’ & ‘X-Men: First Class’ Star Michael Fassbender Joins Ridley Scott’s ‘Prometheus’
A new actor has been added to the cast of director Ridley Scott‘s upcoming return to science fiction, Prometheus. The movie, as you’ll recall, was much-anticipated for a long while as being a prequel to Scott’s 1979 horror classic, Alien. It was only when the above title was announced that we discovered that the movie had grown out of its prequel status, and had evolved into a unique standalone film. Joining the cast of Prometheus is Michael Fassbender, who’s quickly rising as top young star. Fassbender first caught a lot of eyes as the cocky and humorous member of Leonidas’s Spartans in 300, and has gone on to give memorable performances in Inglourious Basterds and Centurion. He’s currently working on Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class, where he’s playing the younger Magneto.

Deadpool #32
Writer: Daniel Way
Artist: Sheldon Vella
Marvel Comics
Price: $2.99
Release Date: January 26, 2011
I am not, overall, a Deadpool fan. I’ve only read a handful of issues of the main title and Merc With A Mouth, while also picking up a few Deadpool Team Up issues here and there. The comic book market has been saturated with Wade Wilson for years, and only one thing convinced me to pick up this book: the art. But I was pleasantly surprised when I actually made my way through the book. This issue’s main story is about a mercenary, Macho Gomez, trying to kill Deadpool because he stole a kill that Macho was hired for. Turns out things didn’t happen as we are led to believe, and Deadpool has to make a decision about what he should do with his life. Will he stay a hero, or turn back to his mercenary ways?

| BBC Cutting Online Budget By 25 Percent The BBC will cut its online budget by a quarter as part of a new restructuring plan to make its online presence more distinctive and reduce competition with commercial sites.
The organization, which made the announcement earlier in the week, stated that part of the restructuring means closing down community-themed sites, less blog coverage, and replacing forums with social networking tools. Overall they plan to focus efforts into very specific and defined categories — more or less indicating that there was plenty of fat to be cut. “A refocusing on our editorial priorities, a commitment to the highest quality standards, and a more streamlined and collegiate way of working will help us transform BBC Online for the future,” said BBC director general Mark Thompson.
