A pretty impressive cast is coming together for X-Men and The Usual Suspects director Bryan Singer‘s upcoming new movie, Jack the Giant Killer.
It’s being reported that Ewan McGregor, star of Trainspotting, Big Fish, and the Star Wars prequels, has entered into negotiations for a role in the movie, which is a retelling of the tale of Jack and the Beanstalk.
McGregor joins a cast that already includes Nicholas Hoult, who’s playing Beast in the Singer-produced X-Men: First Class, Stanley Tucci (The Lovely Bones, The Devil Wears Prada), Bill Nighy (Shaun of the Dead, Pirates of the Caribbean), and John Kassir (Tales from the Crypt, Race to Witch Mountain).
In Singer’s version, a princess is kidnapped by a giant causing a farm boy named Jack (Hoult) to gather a group to go and rescue her. Though necessary, their hopes of rescuing the princess comes with high risk of breaking an already weak peace between humans and the giants, whom are lead by the two-headed Fallon (Nighy and Kassir). All the while an evil advisor to the king (Tucci) is on his own mission to overtake power.
McGregor will play the leader of the king’s soldiers, who helps on the quest to save the princess.
