The Ghostbusters are back in action in video game form this Spring with a new game, Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime. Game publisher Atari is bringing the franchise back, as they did in the 2009 game, Ghostbusters: The Video Game. This time around however the game will be downloadable, and not feature the original Ghostbusting team. Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime will instead feature a foursome of rookies off to save New York City from another paranormal infestation.
You can check out the trailer below to see the action for yourself.
This is the first time the Ghostbusters franchise will be available in a downloadable game. The game will be four player, and include multiplayer so you can play with your friends online. It is a top-down arcade-style game, not unlike Gauntlet that Atari published in 1985.
You will need to use a variety of weapons, including the famous Proton Stream, to take out large bosses. There also seems to be a sequence that you get to ride in the back of Ecto-4WD, catching ghoulies. The game looks fun, especially if playing with a bunch of friends.
I’m looking forward to getting my hands on it to take it for a test drive. Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime will be released via digital download on March 23, 2011, for Xbox 360, Playstation3, and PC. Pricing has not yet been announced.
Ghostbusters Video Game was a lot of fun and I’m definitely looking forward to this one too! Should be a nice segue into the Ghostbusters 3D movie (if it actually completes). Oh, the nostalgia!
