We GoDs took to the convention floor on Wednesday night at Comic-Con International 2011 here in San Diego, CA, for Preview night to check out the sights. Sadly, there weren’t too many cosplayers in attendance at the time, but there were a lot of cool signings and giveaways going on at every turn.
We ransacked the WB booth and came away with a haul of cool Harry Potter buttons; hit AMC’s Walking Dead booth and watched some brave convention goers willingly handcuff themselves to an Atlanta ‘rooftop’ alongside an eerily lifelike Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker) statue; and stopped by the IDW booth to score a Comic-Con exclusive Locke & Key replica ‘Head’ key for our very own Henchman21 (who’s presence at here SDCC this year is sorely missed). We did stop by the Summit Entertainment booth, where each year we’ve been able to score some Twilight goodies for our readers, but just as we got to the line, they closed it down.
All in all, preview night was your standard case of sensory overload. If I had to sum it up in one word that word would be LEGO, followed by bodyodor (hey, when it’s that crowded it becomes one word).
Anyhoo, we’ve been keeping the coverage coming non-stop for the last few days, so continue to keep an eye on our pages for more exclusive GoD-style SDCC 2011 coverage from staff writers Tom Cheredar (Tched) and Stephen Lackey (Culturesmash); frequent contributor, podcaster, and social animal Andy Sorcini (MrBabyMan); executive editor Eve Conte (Empress Eve), and me the webmaster with the camera (Dave3) as we bring you San Diego Comic-Con through our geeky eyes and ears.
