Michael Mann and horse racing. A pair not often uttered in the same breath.

However, HBO is hoping to change that with Mann’s upcoming TV series, Luck. Starring Nick Nolte and Dustin Hoffman, the new series is set to hit TV sets in 2012, and in light of its impending debut, the network has released a brief, but fantastic, teaser for the hotly anticipated series.

Also featuring Deadwood creator David Milch on board the project, the series is easily one of 2012’s most talked about, whether it be those fans of Hoffman, or Mann, who directs the season’s pilot. Michael Gambon, Dennis Farina, John Ortiz, Joan Allen, and Richard Kind round out the cast of this puppy, making it one of the most intriguing new series that 2012 appears to be offering us.

Personally, as a fan of everyone involved, I can’t wait to see more of this sucker. The teaser is beyond fantastic, and if this is half as good as the things this creative team has been known to put out, we are really in for something immensely special.
