OK, I’ll be honest with you, my audience. This is by FAR the hardest review that I’ve had to write for Geeks of Doom to date, for two simple reasons. One, admittedly, my knowledge of the Legion of Super-Heroes is somewhat limited. And two, the way this comic is written, it’s going to be almost impossible for me not to go into spoiler territory. But, I’ll do my best.

First, my hat’s off to writer Chris Roberson. He’s done a great job of taking two mega popular franchises and made them blend seamlessly into one cohesive, fast-paced, entertaining story.

If your a Legion only reader and buying this, and you have no knowledge of the Star Trek franchise, you might be a little lost in the first half of the book, but honestly, if your a hardcore Trekker, or even have a passing knowledge of the Star Trek universe, you’ll know what’s going on right off the bat. The story itself is fantastic. Roberson has written a very organic and, dare I say, logical, way of bringing these two teams together.

And who better to handle the art chores on this book than Jeffrey and Philip Moy? They do a great job bringing both franchises to life in these pages. The page layouts are great, art is clean, and everyone is instantly recognizable. Also, they do a fantastic job on background detail and actually bringing life to the worlds of both the Legion and Star Trek universe.

In short, I really enjoyed this comic. While I’m not the biggest Legion fan (I have nothing against them, just never read that many Legion comics), I did enjoy the book as both a Star Trek AND a Legion of Super-Heroes comic. Very highly recommended.
