Popular Adult Swim stop-motion comedy Robot Chicken will be doing a very special episode dedicated to the comic book characters of DC Comics, and they’ve released a brand new clip from the special entitled “Give It Up, Sinestro” which you can watch here below.
In this clip, we see an altercation between The Green Lantern Hal Jordan and his ultimate rival Sinestro. In the battle, Sinestro goes a bit too far and cuts off the hands of protector of space sector 2814. Handless, Jordan returns to the guardian planet where he is granted a new ring, and I gotta say, it’s not the kind of ring I was expecting.
Robot Chicken is a hilariously random show that plays off a lot of geek culture, and the themed episodes like their Star Wars parodies tend to be their best. So, based off of this clip, their parodies in the past of DC Comics, and the quality of specials in the past, I’ve got to say that I’m looking forward to this one.
Unfortunately, there is no set air date for the special episode, but the head of DC Entertainment Geoff Johns did say at the New York Comic-Con Robot Chicken that panel the special episode will air in the summer of 2012. It’s strange to me that they’re releasing a clip from the show at least 6 months in advance, but what do I know? I know that I’ll be watching it and picking up the home video version, and that you should check it out next summer, too.
