Sure, remakes/reboots of films like The Goonies may never ultimately happen, but their influence will always be felt, particularly if people like Jason Segel have any say.

According to The Playlist, Segel is hellbent on returning to the first script he ever sold, right around a decade ago, which he describes as a “kids adventure movie in the style of Goonies or Labyrinth.” Sounds interesting enough.

Details with regards to the film are slim, but it has been on the shelf for a long time now, so it will be interesting to see how it may change given the years he’s spent away from it. Personally, I have a lot of hope for this project, as I’m a huge fan of Segel, and while I’m not a monstrous fan of Goonies, this generation could use a good, epic kids adventure flick. Here’s to hoping this guy can be the one to supply it.
