This sucker can’t find any momentum.
Following the departure of potential directors Kenneth Branagh and Brian Kirk, Deadline is reporting that Patty Jenkins is also now leaving Thor 2, leaving the project without a helmer.
Apparently, the Monster director still has the potential to be working on another Marvel project, just “not on a sequel,” at least according to the story. The flick is set to hit on November 15, 2013, (moved from its original July 26, 2013 release date) and while it remains to be seen who will take over the helm, names like Drew Goddard, James McTeigue, Noam Murro, and Breck Eisner we all considered prior to Jenkins.
Jenkins was only confirmed on the project in October.
Personally, I don’t mind this change. I’m not a huge fan of Jenkins, so while the possible replacements (given the previous short list) aren’t much better, this could be for the best. Also, I’d much rather see Jenkins get her shot with a project that doesn’t come as the second film in a franchise.
