Whovians and Sci-Fi Geeks, don’t forget, December 25 is not only the day Santa jams his chubby butt down the chimney: it’s also the day when Doctor Who returns for the annual Christmas Special. This year’s episode is entitled The Doctor, The Widow, And The Wardrobe, a seasonal tale inspired by the Narnia series.
Matt Smith returns in his role as the Eleventh Doctor, and is joined by an excellent cast, including Claire Skinner and Bill Bailey, in a story written by showrunner Steven Moffat. A prequel for the episode has been released by the BBC, which you can see along with the trailer at the end of this post.
The Doctor, The Widow, And The Wardrobe will air in the UK on BBC One at 7:00 PM. Locally here in the USA, BBC America will be hosting a Doctor Who Series 6 marathon ALL DAY, which will be followed by the airing of the Christmas Special at 8:00 PM Pacific / 9:00 PM Mountain / 8:00 PM Central / 9:00 PM Eastern.
The official outline of the Christmas Special from the BBC reads:
Evacuated to a house in Dorset from war-torn London, Madge Arwell and her two children, Lily and Cyril, are greeted by a madcap caretaker whose mysterious Christmas gift leads them into a magical wintry world.
Fellow Geek of Doom Tom Cheredar and I will also be recording a TARDISblend episode to review the Doctor Who Christmas Special, and will be accessible here shortly thereafter.
